Are you going to abuse it with water? If yes, then the only option would be the Traxxas setup, which is water-proof. I personally like the Castle Sidewinder V2 setup.

my abuse is long runs in hot weather sometimes. the traxxas 3500 is 2 pole?the Castle Sidewinder V2 setup is 4 pole so the 4600 should be faster then traxxas and aes 4900 motor?Coelacanth wrote:Are you going to abuse it with water? The number ratings only tell part of the story. For example, the 3300kv Reedy while ultimately slower in the top end, is faster off the line because it has more torque than a 4600. But the 5700 is typically faster too, just depends how much torque / power you want.
Personally - I have had the Traxxas setup, the Reedy setup and Castle SV2 and Mamba Max systems. Of the 3, the Castle is by far my favourite. For one thing, I love that you can change the throttle curves, brakes, timing etc all on the computer or using the Castle Link.
Great stuff - very powerful, fast and reliable. The newer 4 pole motors give even more torque than the old CM36 ones. Plus what they say about Castle customer service is true - I called them when the fan stopped working on my Mamba and they sent me a new one, no questions asked.
As for the waterproof part, while the Traxxas is definitely waterproof, I had my Mamba submerged accidently on the beach once and the car stopped - I pulled it out of the water thinking it was toast and set it on the sand, the ESC beeped and it was fine again. So I'd say it's at least water resistant and if it ran through snow (done that) or water puddles (done that too) it should be fine.
All in all, I'm a big fan of the Castle products and have them in almost every car I have with no regrets.

Once its set you are good until you change it. I was actually thinking of getting the SCT 3800 for my Sand Scorcher

I say Ezrun... 1/3rd cheaper, at least as reliable (sidewinder doesn't have much of a good reputation).

I have had my sidwinder 4600kv for 4 years ran 100's of packs thru it and have had 0 issues. I also have the 4 pole in a xxx-t and its very nice motor also.
I had some cogging issues on a clod build with a MMP and customer service was great, got it solved over email.
I vote for castle.
