My Optima project continues.

A few weeks ago I managed to buy from ebay Model Car Monthly magazine with this race coverage in it. In that magazine there was practically nothing new to this project, but the story was quite nice and well written as a race coverage being done in 1986. There was one more list of A-Finalits and their equipments used:

And then some new parts:
First is Sanwa servo SM-631. I think that this is not exactly the same servo model what Jose used. SM-631 was Sanwa's "standard" servo in mid 80's. I think that Jose used SM-731 or SM-357. Those two were more "pro"-versions with double ball bearings etc: SM-731 is little faster and has almost 2* more torque than there is in SM-631. SM-357 was almost 2*quicker with about same torque as there is in SM-631. But all these servos are practically very identical in look and size so I will use this SM-631 "standard" servo, at least now. The servo was very little used and it was maybe installed in Tamiya Hotshot's monoque since there was Hotshot's servo mountings in it. Because of being used here in Hotshot chassis there are no scratches or even dust in it. Next step will be to purchase right size and color Kimbrough's servo saver and install them to the car. Funny thing is that Kimbrough is still, after 25-years, selling those same servo savers. There can not be many parts with this long lifetime in RC world.

And then to the rear end. Kyosho 9-tooth Option House Pinion, the one in 0.8 not in 32DB size. I am am not sure about the tooth number, but something like 9-11 tooth was used.

I finally managed to catch a Le Mans 240S motor. Motor is not new, but in good condition: communicator and can are shining, there are no marks from soldering iron in endbell etc.

The brushes in this picture are not correct ones, but I have changed them to Le Mans brushes with copper color wires.

Then I installed the motor to the car, but it didn't look the same as in "Pic21 Joses Optima rear end.jpg" picture in 1st page. There was some white in the motor. Some, like my self, used tape to make the motor cover even more sealed. I put some white electric insulator tape around motor cover and motor. Now it is better.
