Ultima RB5

Post by RichieRich »

I while back, we were asking each other about projects and new builds. Here's my RB5. It's not vintage but a few people had interest in seeing a pic. So, here it is.

Rich

It looks cool, its good to see another manufacturer in the 2wd market, whats it like to drive? Any similarities to the Losi or Associated?

This and the ZX5 have definitely increased my interest in the modern buggies again, I think I have to have one, I also would like to know how it stacks up against the rest.

Well guys, I honestly haven't put a lot of miles on it yet. It drives very well on unprepared rutted dirt. Very nice steering, not as aggressive as the B4. It flies very nice on the jumps...a little chassis slap on landing but I think I need heavier oil out back. Plenty of rear traction. I've never driven a Losi, so I cannot compare them. I still love my B4 but it's nice to have something a little different. I'm tearing down the transmission tonight to see how it's doing after a rough and tumble driving session today.

I love my RB5, I ran a BK1, went to the B4, tried my hand at an X6, then bought my RB5...found the car I can drive. Great forward traction and awesome steering. I like it a lot.

couldnt pass up the opportunity for some spam either...

Hey Joey - I sense you've run the Ultima more than I. :) Anyways, I lost the little white plastic clip that goes over the left outdrive. Does it serve any purpose? It must be there for a reason. If it runs fine without it, I won't bother replacing it. Otherwise, do you know where I can get one?

I actually tossed mine out. It is "supposed" to help keep the thrust bearing cleaner or something. A couple K-car factory drivers asked me why I put it on...

LOL! Ok, I guess in order not to be made fun of at the track, I should keep the little white thing off. Thanks for the tip!! :D
