Gold Pan version?

Post by tommy2c »

What defines the era of an RC10 - the box or the actual car? I bought my kit 86/87. The box is Edinger but parts are Cadillac. The manual is dated 84 but references the newer parts. Motor has Edinger label. Front tires are 4-ribbed - no writing fronts or rears. I checked the 25 year thread so I know I have a tweener. Do I call it a late Edinger or early Cadillac?

Parts decide the car, if you have a sealed kit or a new unbuilt kit that has varing items however then you have solid info. Transitionary periods where XX parts were in XX box etc were common- toss up some pics and lets see it!

Here's some pics of my car. It's an early cadillac in an edinger box. Broken down for the most part to do a rebuild. Purchased 86/87. Previous car was a Hornet. Always had an interest in the hobby but never got fully into it. Kit sat mostly unfinished until 91/92. Maybe have a couple hours at most runtime on it. Sat in closet until recently got the urge to try and get back into the hobby. I plan on rebuilding my car stock, maybe a couple test runs and then shelf it. I think I have pretty much everything from the original kit. Haven't been able to locate the decals and the other literature that came with it. All parts are in pretty good shape. The end of the AA battery 4-pack is broken off and for some reason I notched the battery trays. Don't know how taboo it is but I painted the outside of the body. I just remember not liking how it looked after painting the inside. The outside was pretty scratched up so I painted it and blacked out the windows. Already have a used one on order and that's the one I'll experiment with.

Camera and screen colors are never exactly the same, but that chassis "color" looks like a mid/late Edinger- or the middle car, the lightest being the first version on through the Caddilac (left)

Very lucky on the unrun non marked sidewall tires, should make your resto way easier in the long run!
