Still workin' on the track width...

Modded some old Prolines that were sitting around...

I couldn't narrow the track width anymore...so, the semi-scale look is out..

It's a late 60's/early 70's Cox Baja Bug that I found for next to nothing on Craigslist..

The rear of the chassis was broken so I could no longer mount the original .049 gas engine..(it was locked up anyway)

The rest of the car was complete.

The gear box is from an old Nikko Rhino that was in R/C salvage collection.

I agree..

I get kinda tired of the same old blah, blah, blah sometimes. :D

Sooner or later I'll run out of obsolete parts to recycle....The dune buggy was supposed to be the last of it, then the Blackfoot came along, then this thing.... ( I gotta stop..)

Have you put one of these on a short course truck yet?

If not then you're not ready to stop yet. :D

Neat!

I like the Proline versions too.

I think my Slash might have a Ford Raptor body on it in the near future.

(I promised myself I would leave it mostly stock..)

It's one of only 3 of my cars that isn't covered by a VW body of some sort....the other 2 are Mustangs. :D

Awesome idea! Who knew Speed Buggy had yellow-dyed Jelly Bean wheels with foams?

For some reason the build kept bringing up images of Speed Buggy...It'll look closer to a 70's Cartoon buy the time it's done.

Here's where the direction is headed:

OK, so it's waaaaay outside the box.. :D

More mock up..

Still need to narrow the FT wheels, detail the chassis, add a new stripe to the body, modify the steering linkage, add electronics...blah, blah, etc. etc...

It won't be a high speed runner.

(No suspension either, the rear axle movement has been secured by positive stops.)

Due to the rake angle, (extreme caster) it'll handle like garbage...(but I think I nailed the 70's cartoon look I was going for... )

I'm diggin' the big-n-little old school tire combo.

I need to find a scale long-haired bearded hippy w/dark sunglasses to complete the look...
