New finds check it out

Post by farmer »

just got back from a lil family vacation out of town ,we went up to the giant sequoias trees, here in CA, went to see the largest tree by volume in the world, at least thats what the sign said, was pretty cool but hiking at about 10,000 ft is pretty damn tiring im 40 yrs old and pretty damn fit but dang, where is the oxygen lol. but it was cool family fun, well we were camping up in the woods and the ol lady said she needed to go into town for something she gave me the funny look ,so i wasnt to question! so we went to a nerby town and while she was doing here shopping i noticed a hobby shop so of course i had to go check it out, it was like walking into somewhat of a time warp everything was well disorganized stuff just everywhere so after looking at all the junk mostly plane stuff and rockets i noticed boxes of old rc car stuff mostly old tamiya stufff with no header cards i could identify some of it but some i couldnt, but man there was tons of it,so after digging in about 4 boxes,,, i seen it a WORLD BOX i almost cr@ped myself. I was thinking no way this couldnt be ,and well it wasnt :( it was empty :( but i did come across a few used rc10s and a few nip parts
a optima 4wd dont know which one it was rear motor 4wd chain drive, so after getting all the cars up on the counter we started talking price,at first the guy was talking about how they were junk and this and that and why would i want these cars,i told him i raced them and yada yada yada, i was thinking cool he thinks these are junk ill get these cheap, than he started talking ebay and this one rc10 was worth about $1,000 bucks and than proceded to get on ebay and show me the one listing for the nib mip 4wd drive listing ,i kinda chuckled and showed him what he was really looking at,than the mood changed, nothing he had was mint the best one he had was the optima something, but he said that one he could sell on ebay for $400 bucks and came up with some super story how it was this one of a kind car, i tried to explain to him with out being negative are being insulting becausewe were in the middle of a deal ,so i just pushed it away, save my bullets for the rc10s. its just funny how we dance around, the ART OF THE DEAL as i call it, there was 3 10s sitting one was junk cut pan broken tower no rear bulkhead no tranny just beat, the other two were rollers, one had a cut chassis older esc 6 gear ,the other was another 6gear used chassis nothing fancy no hop ups just a box stock with the wrong tires, but he was set on that one being the $200 dollar car he was going to get on ebay, i was just amazed on the value he was putting on these cars ,so down to the last one that was pretty dirty had the cut chassis had the old tekin esc and a few hop ups and a motor and even though really worn out original tires and rims it was used but it had parts that i could use ,than as i was about to put my offer on the table he said he had some more parts that he had that he as going to put with this car .than he broke out a never used chassis, and what i think is a worlds motor brace and a almost brand new 1987 trinity joel magic johnson motor and dyed front end , so just off the top of my head i said hows about 25 bucks and he said sounds good ,i was kinda shocked and bewildered,so i paid the man left him my number incase he comes across any more cars are changed his mind on his $400 dollar optima and his $200 dollar roller, so this is what i got for $25 bucks

best part of the rc10 in the first pic is the front arms, and they don't even belong on the car.

The other gold part is the motor guard for an RC10 Graphite Team Car. Did the previous owner drill new holes to mount the battery cup?

Nice score
