Associated RC12is build, with pics

Post by wmcwings »

Here are most of the parts laid out. A BIG thank you to guys from this forum for helping me source some of the hard to find goodies.....

After a couple hours of assembly it's starting to look like a car. The white nylon parts were soaked in hydrogen peroxide as described in other posts here. It really does work guys!

I found the almost like new Associated 05 motor on ebay.

I had these stashed away from waaaay back in the day. I found a Lola body here and I'm going to do it up for this car. very old school and original build.

The car came with a graphite rear axle when I found it and it had no wheels. So now I am looking around to find some early style wheels and non-graphite rear axle to finish it off.

I don't think a 12is would ever have a steel axle? Your Graphite setup should be correct.

Nice build 8)

Yes, can I help? I think the car he's trying to build is the IFS car and it would be appropriate to have the graphite rear axle with a ball diff on this version, there was a steel axle available but probably came on early cars. Perhaps someone else has a different opinion, not an expert by any means.

Rc12e were the only car with solid rear axels and solid mounted spur gear. The upgrade was the light hollow steel axel the rc12i and is had graphite.
