Here is my graphite RC10 with:

Klein Arms
Mono Shock off of a truck (unknown model)
B4 CVA's
RC10t hub carriers
Extended front wheel shafts
TLR 22 Losi steering rack-this allowed me to squeeze more weight up front to balance out the car better
LIPO
Castle 4600 4 pole
Hobbywing programmable esc

Prior to the mono shock, I had set the local track record for fastest lap time. I hope to test out the newly added mono shock. First without sway bar (as is right now) then with sway bar.

RPM ball cups
titanium 4-40 rods

TOTAL CAR WEIGHT IS 3.49 lbs.

I wonder how this would work with torsion type springs on the arms themselves and the shock with no spring (or a very light one)...should stop the "rocking" of the front end.

What I setup here maxes out the arm travel so it's at full extension, all the time. I don't think it will rock as long as the spring tension is constant and of long enough range of motion.

I will see how it runs tomorrow and then possibly add a sway bar kit.....

Wow that's a nice WIDE stance on the car. Looks good!
Remember it's either a runner or a shelfer. Everything else is just parts.

Joey, are you thinking of a sway bar? I think that might work.

I ordered one for a T4 which I can hopefully fit. It was $6 on ebay with hardware and different tension bars....

not a traditional sway bar, more like one on steriods :)

think of a mono leaf spring attached in the center of the bulkhead area (i guess that isnt torsion style now that i picture it)

front mono in this execution (and the mip one, same as fox/boomerang) is doomed to fail because the spring transmits the effort right to the other side, but in the other direction (it acts like a rollbar, as opposed to an anti-roll one!)... The only way to prevent rocking is some serious swaybar diameter, but then it means the suspension becomes rock hard when sollicitated independently. You "can" have the spring already compressed at full extension to minimize the rocking at "idle" but then there's no more downtravel and handling will be crap anyway ;)

As someone said earlier: "Even tamiya dropped it"

Jedi Master wrote:Looks like they would be simply to make from some fibre-glass, plasticard or carbon sheet. Wonder how a buggy would run with a mono shock fitted in addition to the standard shocks? Thunder Tiger ran this type of 3-shock set-up on their legendary EK4, (I have X2 BNIB: woop woop!).

Would it act to support the sway bar effect?
when you add a 3rd mono to a set of two indie shock dampers, you create an anti-squat/pitch device... F1's use it.

I really appreciate your input on this guys. I does make complete sense that the compressed, outer tire's force will end up pushing the mono shock to fully extend the inner tire, resulting in MORE body roll; BAD! I concur.....

I am going bad to my previous setup where I had two individual shocks canted towards the center which I think was a good compromise in getting a lower CG while having independent control and tension over each control arm.....

Pics coming soon.....
