rc10 oval / sprint car questions?
rc10 oval / sprint car questions?
Does anyone know who made the chassis in the pics?
Any good tips for mounting the motor as a mid mount?
Thanks for any help...

With creative battery mounting and bracing, you can run a mid-motor setup on the BME. I was experimenting with some loose cells on mine, and you could run a 5-cell with the sixth on top. Or offset saddle packs. You could also fit stacked saddle LiPos or stand them vertically.

Thanks for the heads up on the chassis name, now I know what it should look like assembled, I am missing the support rods.
As far as the mid motor mount, I completely overlooked battery placement. I am going to have to rethink things, thanks.

Man I like it!
With proper treatment and restoration that would look bad ass as is IMHO.
Although I'm a bit partial to any oval RC10 set up with low profile foams. Brings back great memories.

Depending on how small your servo is and how you mount it, you probably won't be able to fit a 6-cell pack with the mid-motor setup. If you eliminate the steering bellcranks and run the tie-rods directly to the servo like a pan car, you might be able to squeeze one in there.
And for the chassis braces, just buy some K&S 3/16" .049-wall tappable aluminum tubing and 4-40 tap and make your own. I've made three sets so far for my BME chassis using originals as a pattern.

Once you have the nose screwed to the chassis, just make a mark at the front side mounting hole where the tube needs bent. Then use a vise and bend it slightly, and check the fitment. Once it's bent correctly, mark the two side holes and drill and tap them along with the hole on the end of the tube. Make sure to bend then drill because the front hole is right at the bend and will break...ask me how I know.

Hope this info helps. I love the BME chassis and currently have four of them.

Re: rc10 oval / sprint car questions?
I built my black BME up with a DS but with the tranny in the normal place with an added twist lmao you would haft to see it to beleive it.I used some plastic parts from a rc boat stand.Their red and chassis is black so it looks stylish and functional with hardly any weight and lighter than original tubeing braces, really tell the difference when try and twist the chassis now.
I also built a DS LTO specific kit but cant remember who the maker was,but the tranny is inboard . I havent seen another like this one you can shorten wheelbase on it to,i got it set long wheelbase now.Wish i could get pics to show them off dangit.
Then i got a Raborn LTO too but its RC10 buggy suspension.DON
