I FOUND 'EM. :)

Post by Bob-Stormer »

The lead in to the story.

I raced for a company called "Dialed" in the late 80's. Rick was the guy. I did a lot of testing with fets and circuitry for them. If you look in the pics, you can see notes on some of the cases and fets in different configurations on the same speedo. ANYWHO... to make a long story short. I've had this ONE, 1/12th scale chassis with a Dialed speed control on it kicking around. I KNEW I had a lot more of them at one time, but could not figure out if I'd sold them, lost them, broken them or WHAT? And I have a few restorations I've been wanting to do with them, but they are hard to find. This is very likely a case of rare does not equal valuable, it's just obscure. Just like a 47 pound elephant turd in a perfect concentric orb. Wouldn't be valuable, but certainly rare. ...lol... They are priceless to me though as a piece of my personal history.

To the point. I haven't seen them since maybe 1991. Lost forever, or so I thought. BAM, I'm cleaning some stuff way in the back about an hour ago. I move this same old box of junk charges that's always in the way, to the other side of the shelf. Only this time, I dig around a little bit, and there they all were at the bottom. YEAAAAAAAAaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!

I've been jumping around like a kid at Christmas. Lost for 20 years. Thought I'd never be able to get some of those restorations to happen. *sniff*.

And, here's what else was in that box after I took the chargers out (old pro-tec, and traxxas, and junk wires and cords and nothing out of the ordinary). It would be the kind of box in your personal garage, that you'd slide around forever, because it had an old board game on the top you thought was cool as a kid. But you never dug through it. just slid it to the side, thinking you'd deal with it later.

Was a good day to move stuff around. :)

I have to agree with you, Bob...you know that feeling you get when you think you've misplaced something, and for days, weeks, months or even years, every once in a while the thought of that misplaced/lost stuff gnaws on your mind. You question yourself, "Is it possible that it ended up in the garbage or recycle box?? I KNOW I wouldn't have accidentally put it in a bag that ended up in the trash, but maybe I did..."

When you suddenly come across your long lost stuff, it feels like you just won a mini-lottery, your mind is again set free!

A big "WOW" at the find! I'm digging the LAVCO stuff!!!
I still have my original Tekin BC210(I think - have to check the model) charger from when I first started racing. I actually still have a lot if not all of my original stuff strewn between my house and my parent's house. I'll have to dig it out and see what I can do with it...

I also used to run for Dialed back in the day. I plan on restoring my 90' Nats car, and am looking for Dialed racing stickers, as I got rid of all of them many years ago. LMK if you happen to find any in your "wherehouse". -Jeff

It seems Dialed also had cars, at least there was a 1/10th pancar. Someone knows about it or have pictures?
