Old new guy
Old new guy
Hey guys I'v been lurking for about a week or so. I used to race RC back in the late 80s and early 90s. I've used RC10s in dirt and paved ovals, road course and the best off road. Well my wife just got me a SC104x4 for Christmas. That got me jonesing for a buggy. My now brother-in=-law used to run the local carpet track and hobby shop. Went over yesterday and asked if he had any AE stuff left over. We're talking at least out of business for 15 years. Anyway this is what I brought home yesterday. He put it together at least before he closed up but never has been run. Don't know if this was a factory kit (
which I doubt) but figured I'd show off my new old project. I bought car only as this is going brushless against all the "new" cars. I wanna find a tub to replace the graphite chassis as I've never been a fan of graphite off road. Enjoy and a big THANKS to whoever started this forum for the GREATEST off road car ever built........yeah I might be prejudice but I know what I like.
After looking around some more I think I will just sale this one and grab a B4.1 since parts are more available for someone that will race twice a month. Parts availabilty really scares me now fr the RC10. I should have kept all my old stuff since I used to build a seller out of all parts all the time.

Re: Old new guy
other than dusty, car looks really good. appears to have the black MIP shock bodies? houge/composite craft steering, stealth tranny w/graphite brace - solid parts for a killer runner. if everything is new and un-run, some collectors will have a problem tossing it on a track, but i say clean it up, toss fresh electronics in there and take it for a spin.
i am still amazed to this day how good these cars handle. when i go to the track, i take 2 modern buggies and 2 vintage buggies, i usually run the vintage buggies

Re: Old new guy
I would clean that one up and then buy a separate gold pan and run the gold pan. You could make a great trade with someone here who would love a nice looking graphite buggy like that one.

Re: Old new guy
Was I the only one admiring the esc? I admit that I scan electronics first, and then ooh and ahh over the rest of the ride.
Please post pics after a good cleaning, as mentioned it looks like it'll be sweet when that's done.
