Yokomo 870c - ID help please

Post by sheriff »

This was bought , with the description 'Superdogfighter Custom'.

I'm pretty sure it's an 870c Custom, it has a spare graphite chassis, anyone know what the chassis on it now is? Also, I think the motor is the standard Yokomo type that the Custom came with.

Does anybody know if it's possible to buy an original style shell, with air scoop??

Many thanks

The chassis on the 870c looks like a custom made copy of the original in FRP (GRP), but without the 4th battery slot on one side. Custom rear shock tower and steering brace with everything else looking stock - looks like you may have parts for a TCS between the parts on the layshaft and those in the spare parts bag.

The spare chassis you have is for a later YZ10 works 93 model. Hope this helps :D

Helps a lot, thanks very much. So, just need an original chassis, to make it, err, original!

I may regret buying this, as I've just recently sold a Works 91 because I knew such little about it! Could resist this though, as I loved these back in 89/90 but couldn't really afford one, sob sob

Thanks again, top help

870c cars had fiberglass chassis with a graphite backbone. carbon fiber was an option.

I was right, I really do know f##k all about these cars!!!

Thanks jwscab, quite happy about that, can strip this down, clean and rebuild it as it is then. Just need a new shell (with scoop), wing & decent tyres now.

there is a caveat however....that fiberglass chassis you have I do not believe is a factory piece. The factory chassis was a black fiberglass. The car is an 870c based on the arms, bulkheads, etc. Clean everything up the best you can and then assemble with all the best parts. With that chassis, it will be unique.

The chassis in the pic looks like an original factory 93 works chassis to me, it has a few more holes than standard.

Also in the same pic is a pair of Craig Drescher arms which I believe were made by CML and a pair of Kyosho optima C carriers.

Can you open the bag that contains the hubs/slipper type parts and post a pic. It's interesting as it looks like a slipper set up but not a Yokomo slipper.

Not wasp, it does look like a 2mm pitch one way. Are the 2 diff pulleys 2mm and the slipper plate pulley 2mm pitch? If so it's quite rare.
