Composite craft Pro-SE

Post by tiger1 »

Pro SE in Composite craft chassis

Got the chassis without a body from a brother here for a reasonable price one sunday morning.

Found the chassis nice but need some fine tuning in terms of installation. Front bulkhead was too high (tall by about 1/4 inch), using the standard mounting posts the upper chassis was deformed very very badly. Mind you, this caused actual deformation of the upper chassis (BAD)!! I was very disappointed when I got the car. Credit to composite craft material, once I unscrew it, the upper chassis was rock solid FLAT with no permanent deformation. Solution was simple, machine down the front bulkhead until it was passively sitting under the upper chassis plate, no brainer but took time.

This car came with perfectly new RPM rear arms, rpm steering knuckles, Andys front arm, trinity long shocks (super smooth even though it is in ugly purple color...), titanium hinge pins, thorp gears in the tanny, JG front body mount, titanium turnbuckles( I cant stand those cheapo rusty original one), HPI rims, perfect condition tires.

I then got an A&L slipper, wing mount and a body from A&L. :D

I kept meaning to get to adjusting that but never did. I think actually it was that chaissis was never meant to use the JRX-T front shcok tower causing the two to interfere. Glad you got it sorted, I can tell you I had way more in that car than you do, good for you and for me, well... if you ever get bored, perhaps one day I'll take it back. 8)

Indeed it does look very cool, maybe something to add to my wanted list which seems to be growing daily.

I like the look of the Xcellerator shell on this buggy, fits well!... Car has some real nice rare Option parts on it too... in particular those Trinity shocks 8)

Is the base chassis from Composite Craft or is it just the topdeck built up over an original Pro chassis?? Also did any of the top drivers use this modified chassis Bitd? I see Joel Johnson ran a JRX2 with a braced 'kick-up' - so the 'flex' in the chassis seemed to be a recognised weak-point. Having said that, its always been suprising how despite all the option parts that are available how often a team driver will win major events with an almost factory standard car (Brian K's 93 Worlds Winning RC10 for example)

A while ago Composite Craft said that they were going to start making things again for vintage cars, but I havent heard much more. I sent them an email about 6 months ago and they said they are still not ready to produce any chassis yet....so I wonder if they really will or not. They have a website, but I cant remember what it is....
