trimming bodies is probably the worst for me. I don't mind building shocks, it's the bleeding that sucks.I usually have one shock that will not cooperate, end up being firmer than the rest.

Re: RC10 assemebly . What do you hate the most ?
oooh, forgot about bending wing wire. the act itself is easy enough if you have atleast 4 fingers but for the life of me it never comes out right no matter what i do.
like sunday, i was rigging up a wing on my traxxas fiero directly to the rear pod and even though the wire seems strait and bent correctly it is both unlevel once mounted and one side is further back then the other.
watching me bleed shocks is funny too. was bleading a set of 1/8th shocks a few days before the wing bending and i pulled down to quick trying to get the air out from behind the piston (had a down stop in it), shot 15wt oil right in my eye
then once i washed out my eye and jumped back in on the other shock, well, lets just say i went to bed with one hell of a bloodshot eye.
wasnt even a good oil choice so i wound up going up to 30wt at the track. *facepalm*

This is probably a repeat of what has already been mentioned, but...
1. Turnbuckles
2. Installing axle roll pins
3. Trimming the body for rear shock clearance
4. That damn e clip that goes on outside of the gearbox on the spur gear shaft opposite of the diff.

This is why they're also referred to as Jesus clips. Mainly because you're apt to yell "Jesus Christ!" when they go flying.THEYTOOKMYTHUMB wrote:Ever stop to think how many Associated e clips have been lost over the years?? Has to be in the millions! I remember guys with 10l fiberglass cars not doing it, but with the graphite being a decent conductor and sharp edges it would destroy battery shrink wrap in 1-2 runsLowgear wrote:Why is that done? I never remember anyone doing that in the 90's when I raced pan cars.

I forgot about that too. That was a PITA!
I thought it was so that the cells sat further in to lower the c/g. Although I guess it would definitely save the shrink wrap too.

Re: RC10 assemebly . What do you hate the most ?
Ah I see, that makes sense. I'm lucky I never had that problem. Maybe because my packs were always held together with glass tape and prayers.
An RC10L is the only R/C with a graphite chassis, and battery slots I've ever run which is why I wasn't aware of the need to do that.
