Frequency crystals.

Post by 8rad »

Hey,

Crystals are not a matched pair are they? If I use a 76 with a 76 it should work?

in theory, the crystals should be accurate enough that they will work based on channel number, ie, they don't require anything to be matched. So it probably will work, but it's hard to say for sure.

I have used different radios, with different crystals without any issues.

That is why they used to have a radio impound at the track back in the day. If you were in the pits and turned on your radio, and there was a car on the track with the same frequency, it would go crazy.

Hi
Although the crystals may be the same frequency number, they may not be compatible due to the type of "cut" they are. 27 band crystals are all pretty much interchangeable between brands.
On 75 band Futaba, KO, Hitec and the rest are not all compatible. You should stick to the Manufacturer of your particular radio. Check the second number on the crystals(cut, as explained to me), this number must be the same in sets.
The easiest way to be sure is have your equipment with you and try the crystals before buying.
