I on the other hand, had a go with the Badger sand blaster without a blasting cabinet and ended up looking like some kind of desert Yeti!

So ANTHONY! Needless to say, I only did one set! I think I will leave the rest to you! Don't worry, after about two and a half hours in the shower it all comes off!

Well, I took some time and one eyeball to dremel the bulkheads with the brass brush. It just sucks that I'm on site and can only look through the microscope with one good eye. Not like I could go to the on-site medic either...not wearing the proper PPE and working on personal crap BUT, I will continue on with trying to do the hubs and getting into the smaller areas with safety glasses

My blasted mag parts look more of a flat finish, where the brass wheel gives it a nice shiny finish. Not sure what I like better?

no worries about the eye, the brass wire came out 12 hours later and just to small scratches on the outside of my eyeball

My own fault, I used glasses afterwards

With the shinny parts, you will have untouched spots where I could reach, and with the blasted parts you probably have a more uniform look

got the chassis done today The first three will be for complete or nearly complete cars...the first one on the left is practically untouched with the exceptions of a few minor scratches. I still will have to drill it to attach the backbone properly

Once I get back home I should be able to do some assembling, that is after I build all of those transmissions
It will be well worth it though. To see three of them sitting beside each other will be cool

You think you can get three done? That would be sweet if you could! I hope the few extra new parts I have in my storage bin will help us get three built! The chassis are looking good! I need to buy a proper hose for the Badger Sand Blaster. The original rubber hose touched a hot fin on my compressor and melted a hole in it!

Thanks, but they didn't stay nice. I put them in a container to pack with the aluminum parts while I traveled home and now they are all corroded again
I cleaned them up a bit more til I ran out of brass wire brushed dremel attachments.

Here is shot of all the parts, less the Mg parts Rod has that he was sand blasting. Rod has 2 sets of Mg hubs and 2 sets of bulkheads and 2 trans mounts, from what I can remember.

After taking apart the one complete car and getting more familiar with the parts, I noticed there were a few that were different. I got some aluminum arms and C hubs, Andy's arms (just 3 of them, too bad it wasn't 4), unknown arms to the right of the Andy's arms, unknown C hubs and rear hub carriers left of the aluminum arms. Also got some black bulkhead parts. I would imagine I could find these odd parts in another Yokomo manual if I looked.

I think I will attack the transmissions next and them start assembling once I get the Mg parts from Rod. BTW Rod, I just got off the phone with my rig and they gave me an eta for me of a week now.

Instead of working on the tranys I worked on the selection process of choosing the best parts for Rods runner and second best for mine, third best for an almost complete left over buggy and we will see how far the forth one gets. Having selected out the best aluminum parts I noticed that none of them met my obsessive standards

I don't spend as much time on this project as I would like, at home that is, but I got one set of aluminum parts polished up using Mother's aluminum polish. I snaped a quick photo to show the difference.

You sure are putting forth a bunch of effort on these. You remember, they are runners? RIGHT!

why not, when I can, so I should. I got the 3 stock configurations assembled, one with the one way clutch setup or part-time automatic 4wd and 2 with the full-time 4wd setup. I also have parts to use after spur gears, but I got some issues with the aftermarket spur gear assembly setup. I'm not sure how to complete it, here are some photos of what I got here. If anyone cane help me out, it would be appreciated.

I looked back to the previous photos and found this one. I can figure out the closest one, but cant figure out what is on the end of the second one. I will have to revisit it now.


I can use the piece off the end of the part-time automatic because the large clip holds on the spur gear anyway.

Well, got 2 of each now, but only one with the aftermarket setup. I'm not convinced that it's actually aftermarket, but probably a later yokomo upgrade on the next version
