"Monster" Truck RC10

Post by CON2 »

Hi all,

Been looking at a load of "odd" spares I've got and what RC10T spares I've got coming.

I've never seen a "proper" monster RC10, always a "stadium"

It'll be more of a fun build, not going to race etc, maybe a thrash in the field or something!

Anyone built one?
Any pics etc?

Well, must say for the amount of info and talent on here, I'm gob smacked no ones done or has pics of a "Monster" RC10.

Guess I'll be the first then!!!

Got a huge set of wheels and tyres, that take a 14mm hex, so the rears should be easy.

Fronts, I'll have to think about, first option comes to mind is using 2WD Traxxas monster parts, we'll see.

Think I may need a longer chassis!!!!!

Well enjoy the shot next to a B2 2.2 wheel with Minipins.....

be warned, you will ruin the driveline and just about everything on the poor truck in pretty short order but itll be so freakin cool that it all balances out in the grand scheme of things

Hey CON2, I just recently built a "sort of" Monster Truck using a bunch of GT aluminum parts. Here's the post link.

http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=20927

She was running great until something happened with my stealth tranny. Left wheel spins fine, spur gear/b4 slipper working fine but the rear right wheel is spinning really slow. I switched out my stealth tranny from my "old is new" black pan and it ran great again. Then, the same problem happened. Spur spins but there's no power to the outdrives.

I'm running mamba max pro with 7700kv and a 5000mah 2c lipo.

Was running Sidewinder with 5700kv and same battery in my black pan and it ran great.

Would love some insight as to what's going on if someone has any and would also like to know what I can do to beef up the stealth.

that 6 gear doesn't stand a chance. the high internal ratio of it sure isn't gonna help turn those tires, either.

Nice like the alloy arms, might have to get some.
maybe the "Running 5000mah 2s lipo and hobbywing 5T brushless motor" may have some thing to do with the box letting go :P

a 5t motor will die a fast death pushing those tires.

will a 1/8 scale motor fit? can you make it fit?

to move those tires at any decent speed you're going to need a low kv, high voltage motor.

maybe 17.5 with 3s will get it going, but i think a 1/8 system will be more appropriate.

Hate to say it, but those tires are too big for the chassis and suspension. They look like quarter scale?

I would think something like a custom crawler chassis using link suspension would be better suited. By the time you modify what you have to fit those tires and build it strong enough to last, there won't be much left of what you started with.
