MULTI-COLOR Anodized RC-10 Project

Post by Romulus-10 »

Well I tried this with the anodizing shop I normally use and it wasn't right. So I called around trying to find someone who could do this and finally found the place who said they could, and oh brother they were right. This is a very tricky thing to do with anodizing, but they were able to get exactly what i wanted. This is a keeper, I might make a small 9 piece run of these in the future, but if you think the others i have done are expensive, these are very pricey. I hope everyone enjoys the photos. Just got this in today. And really digging it.

Unless these are done by Cannon process, then it is only a matter of dyeing in the correct order before the anno seals- shouldn't be too much more, unless you are getting the wrong end of the stick- But it looks nice!

Well seeing as if you put red over the purple it comes out dark and muddy, and you can't put red over the gold or it will come out orange, and to anodize it must be dipped . I think they use some liquid mask and it seems they have a lot more time and technique involved, seeing as 2 other companies could not do this process. And yes it is a lot more expensive. Do you have any suggestions on someone who can do this process? I am always looking for a better price, or do you do anodizing? Thanks for any help.

Check out places that do paintball marker anodizing. Amazing things can be done with aluminum from laser etching and digital camo to multi-color fades and drips. The prices usually aren't that bad either.

Depends on how the anodizing co performed the process on that chassis, they probably dyed/etched/dyed/etched/dyed the chassis instead of other processes. And as Dave mentioned
the paintball field has the most technology in multicolor anodizing- and if you can imagine a silkscreen process for the dye instead of an immersion method it is something along those lines, but
most anodizing places depend on volume, not creativity-

Yes it is just anodizing, very special anodizing, and the fade is amazing. I am very happy with the results. Its all in the fade, the blend is really cool, no hard lines. Some of the stuff that some of these places offer has to be the ugliest crap ever, camo, american flags, and cheetah print, I can say for sure that I would never anodize any of that white trash paintball designs on a RC-10. I think you need a pick up and gun rack for that, and maybe a glove box full of chew.

It does look nice, but curb the hostility man. I think they are just trying to help. Sorry in advance if I'm taking your post out of context. :?

And uhhh, pass to the left please. 8)

In all honesty though, reading this thread I've learned a lot about anodizing. I think that's a good direction to go with it. :D

I am sorry, I wasn't directing any comments or hostility at anyone, I was just making fun of some of the anodizing that these places offer. I feel bad if anybody thought it was directed towards them. I am just passionate about what I like, or in this case don't like. And you can bet the "special tool " has been out all day. Sorry if I hurt anyones feelings.
