no range/interference

Post by Cronus »

The past couple of days I've been having an issue with my receiver. At least I believe its my receiver. As soon as my buggy gets 50-60 feet away the throttle servo goes a bit rouge as does steering. It started when I got into a nasty wreck that ended with a collision with a fire hydrant, and well the hydrant definitely won.

It won so much that the receiver case un mounted itself and broke the antenna wire out of its solder joint.

Of course I resoldered it made the various repairs I needed to and moved on with my life. That's when this problem started showing up. Though I will admit its gotten progressively worse. The range where I still had control was well over 200 feet but in the past couple days its gone down to nothing.

There are fresh batteries in the transmitter, the antenna does not appear to be broken, and all my wiring is isolated from one another.

So is my receiver shot? Is there something I can repair that I over looked? I can't seem to isolate the cause of my problem.

sounds like the crash damaged the crystal in the rx unit. try swapping it out with a different one and see if that improves your range.

Well I just tried new crystals and there was no improvement. Any other ideas? I don't mind having to buy replacement parts, I just don't want to randomly start throwing things at the problem hoping it'll fix it.

I think it’s the receiver! Is the receiver mounted at same place, is the antenna mounted at the same place, antennas cord the same length? If yes, try to borrow another receiver for testing!
