bad motor Vintage RC10 #6010 Gold Pan :(
bad motor Vintage RC10 #6010 Gold Pan :(
I picked up a #6010 gold Pan with a Novak T4 esc, and some modded parts.
Well, after going thru the tranny, and charging a battery to test out the electronics, I think I have a bad motor.
The servo works in either channel 1 or 2 slot, and the Novak puts voltage (~8v) at full throttle out to the motor plug so I think the Novak T4 is working. The motor does not spin, click or anything. I pulled the brushes, and other than being ~50% worn, look usable.
I am going to try to borrow a stock motor from a friend and see if it works.
I had planned to keep the Futaba Magnum junior radio (that's what I used back in the day) I got with the RC10 since it still works.
Can I pickup a cheap stock modern brushed motor at my local hobby shop? The sticker has been removed so not sure if it was a modified motor, but it did have a removable end-bell & brushes.

I'll try this one with the Novak T4 and hopefully I can get it rolling.
Update 2/10/11
Got the vintage Reedy motor (it has fairly new cut brushes) from Cline Hobbies off eBay, hooked up the Novak T4 on a battery I charged yesterday.
Ran the motor till the battery died (few minutes). So, I'll be able to assemble it. It's not pretty, but it is from "back in the day", which is what I wanted.
Found a reedy motor reference site listed it as 15x4 Turn... what does that really means for power/speed/run time?
