My 88 Avante
With the ReRe being released next month, prices are all over the place on the 88 Avante, I wanted an original 88 for a shelfer, so i picked this one up, Its new built with only a few things missing, From looking it over i need to get an original decal sheet, Driver, plastic battery holder thing and some new tires. I dont think the parts i will need will be different on the ReRe (I hope).
I plan on stripping the body and going boxed art with it, I have a Boxed Art Vanquish to park next to it
Comments are welcome

Body off shots? That car looks like it might be way cooler than I ever though under that lexan- was this an actual race car made by Tamiya ?

Re: My 88 Avante
It was an attempt at a true racing buggy, From what i read it was not very competitive and had some durability problems, I just love how they went way out of the box back then, nothing else around at the time was like it. Here are some pics with the lexan body and under tray removed.Charlie don't surf wrote:Body off shots? Re: My 88 Avante
Thanks guys, The Tamiya Avante and Tamiya Mountaineer are the two cars i always wanted as a kid but could never afford, I have both now and plan on handing them down to my son someday, Unfortunately he has no interest in RC cars at the moment lol.

Re: My 88 Avante
I have always loved the avante, and it looks like you have a very nice example of an original. My buddy actually has 2 of these, one that is stock, and one that is built with every OEM tamiya hop up, that one is pretty crazy looking. Both are shelf queens though.
