Re: Ultima Wheel Conversion for HPI Chrome 5 Stars
You will need to switch over to RB5 hub carriers/steering blocks/axles/bearings. The difference is that those wheels have a hex drive for connection to the axle. The axle floats/rides on bearings that are captured in the steering block. The original ultima/pro/xl like you have has fixed axles, and the bearings are in the wheel. You may also have to trim the inner bead off of the wheel in order to use standard 2wd front tires. If you run 4wd width front tires, they will be good to go as is. Good Luck.

Along the lines of the front RB5 axle conversion....
Does anyone know if Tamiya (or equivalent upgrade) M03/04etc freewheel axles will fit in the RB5 front carriers?? OR even Traxxas Bandit ones?
I know they are 5mm, just wondering if they are long enough....
