new member/old gold pan
Hey everybody new to the forum and looking for a little help identifying my car. So I stumbled upon this forum and like many others I suddenly found myself in the basement searching for my old gold pan. Eventually I found it
so here are some pictures for you guys to look at and give some ideas as to what year roughly it was manufactured, kit number, if some of the parts on the car are not the proper ones that came with the kit, that type of thing. Any info is greatly appreciated

Re: new member/old gold pan
Appears to be a 6000 something ( 6000 basic, 6010m 6016 bearing equipped etc....) Caddiliac car, somewhere between 1986 and 1991 If memory serves me. The richer gold color and a few other things kind of give the car identity- Missing a chunk of alloy on the left side, tires/wheels and a few screws body ( protech ) and wing ( 6182 )

Re: new member/old gold pan
hey thanks for the reply, that missing peice of chassis sure is an unfortunate eye sore, this car was used as a rental car at indoor carpet track and the owner had apperently cut that hole there so he could route the battery wires out of the car so he didint have to remove the battery for charging, its a shame i know cause theres alot better ways to go about that. My dad had bought 6 of these gold tubs and 1 graphite car and a crazy amount of spare parts when the track closed its doors somewhere around 10-15 years ago. Each of my brothers received one and my Dad kept the graphite car and sold the other 3 to his freind.

I like the "rent-a-wreck" story about the car. Nice to hear some history, and...........remember when places used to do things like that to attract new people. Can't so that anymore ( but I don't know why )

Car looks like a prime candidate for a resto-runner. I've seen worse that turned out fantastic.
One of the tracks local to me still does a rent-a-wreck deal, with Slashes. $20 for 1/2 hour (2 lipo packs). $1 extra for "insurance" if you break a part.

Yeah I think that its a solid base to start out with, its gonna be a bit of a slow build process though as time and cash are somewhat limited but I'll throw up pics of whats going on with it. I wish that track was still open here, or any track for that matter, the closest one is a hour and a half away and I just never seem to make it there, the local RC scene around here is pretty much non existant.
As far as kit identity goes was kit #6016 the only one AE offered with full ball bearing setup?

Our track has truck rental. It's hilarious to watch people race for the first time. And I assure you I mean that we laugh with them and not at them. It's a blast. Now if only I can get people to laugh with me instead of at me...Charlie don't surf wrote:I like the "rent-a-wreck" story ...........remember when places used to do things like that to attract new people. Re: new member/old gold pan
another rc10 with the rear arm mounts on the wrong sides.
if that car was mine, it'd have a date with the dremel and a cut-off wheel.

Thanks for the info there, thats the type of stuff I'm looking for. At the time I received this car I was on the way out of the hobby, had other interests

I have a few ideas in mind that do include a dremel so once i finalize my decision I'll post up
