Who made these?

Post by Jay Dub »

Here is an Ultima tranny diff and counter gear set. The gears are 48 pitch. I don't remember who made them (MIP, Thorp, Robinson). and Ideas. Thanks -Jeff

Cool, thanks. I have had this stuff for a million years, and couldn't place them. AIP- I would like to pick up the parts for the SP-1 we discussed. LMK if you have them all. -Jeff

Well, its a pretty cool piece (set) but is sort of out of place. By this I mean, that it does not have replaceable diff rings, and only has one replaceable thrust washer (although 2 might fit). It is also very heavy, and would certainly affect your acceleration ( I am racer, so I am concerned with such things  ). There is also no center diff gear bearings. The diff rings are the part that bothers me the most however. As soon as it gets gritty (e.g. time for a rebuild), you need to replace most of your diff parts. I can only assume this would be quite expensive (BITD), and near impossible to do today (lack of replacements). I would love to hang on to it, bit it doesn't serve any particular purpose, If I put it in a tranny I would never run it (as far as I am concerned it is not rebuildable), and no one would appreciate it on a shelfer. Anyways, thanks for everyones help. -Jeff
