found myself an Ultima :D
Sweet! After about 6 months of searching, I finally found my Ultima! I only managed to take a few pics so far, but here they are.
When I do a the tear-down write up for my blog I'll take more/better pics of the car, and the stuff that came with it.
A cool bonus was the car came with the same radio I got for my first r/c car in got in the mid 80's... an Aristo Craft Challenger 250 stick radio. It also came with the mechanical speed control, and 2 more drivers. (one of them unpainted)
It's pretty dirty, but mechanically speaking, the car is in pretty great condition. The only issues I see so far, is a broken upper deck, and one of the shock collars is broken too.

Here's another shot, showing the rest of the stuff that came with the car.
I'm not sure what car the big msc came from.

Very nice car. It shouldn't take too much work to bring that up to speed. What do you plan for it?

Re: found myself an Ultima :D
Basically, I'm going to clean it up, repair the busted bits, and get it up and running. I don't really plan on running it (or any of my vintage stuff) too much. 99.9% of my RCing is racing, so I don't do any 'bashing' or anything like that. However, If we can ever put together a vintage buggy class in my area, I'd love to race it with other cars from the same era. Until then, it'll probably sit on the shelf, nestled between my Turbo Optima and Gallop.

I've started tearing down my Utima. I've posted some pics here:

I think with some work will surely be a nice Ultima. I'm looking forward to more photos. This buggy will always remain my personal favorite . I've recently even one built from mostly new parts. Almost every day I turn it around in my hands and thinking of the good old 80s. I drove my Ultima usually with a Technigold and a borrowed 8.4 V battery. The thing was incredibly fast! Keep it up!

Re: found myself an Ultima :D
I scored a set of Kyosho Gold shocks from a buddy of mine, and was thinking of using them on my Ultima, however, the rear shocks on the vanilla Ultima are very short... just a few cm longer than the fronts. If I want to use the 'standard' golds on the back, do I need to buy/make a taller shock tower, or is there a way around that?

You need the taller shock tower. You can find originals and copies on ebay or even here.
