My sort of box art JRX2

Post by RCveteran »

Well after not trying to paint in probably 15 years, my masking tape, x-acto and spray cans yielded these. Good from about 3 feet away. 2nd try was better but just when I think things are going well the tape peels, leaks, I try to touch up and ruin it worse, oh well break out the trim tape

Things I learned, the JRx2 paint scheme is more complicated than it looks, I still stink at painting and I need a beer. 8)

This one just sits around, I am in the process of building a 5-link runner as well.

Thanks, my 3rd attempt should be better. I was unhappy with parma masking tape it leaked. Reguar old 3M blue stuff did not. They were team blue groove bodies.

Can't beat just the normal good quality paper masking tape - I try & get the 3M stuff

I'm yet to try using spray mask properly - I did start to use it on a Tamiya Mini shell, but the stuff I was using I think had gone off through age. I must have another try with it but buy myself a fresh bottle!

no tape ever....liquid mask and a paint brush. 2 coats of mask and cut it and paint it the next day.....or whenever.

Have any of you guys tried FrogTape? I was reading about this new product a few months ago and picked some up at Wal-Mart. I haven't tried it yet, but their PaintBlock technology looks intriguing. Basically, they apply a treatment to the sides of the tape rolls which is a paint inhibitor and thus makes clean masking lines more easily.

I have used it on two paint jobs now and I like it, seems a little "thicker" thus makng bends a little tougher but...still good.
