Brandon G wrote:I agree with Eau Rouge that making up more classes just thins out the herd, but with the interest in monster trucks at this venue, I think it would only be fair to offer them up their own class. If not enough show, slide them back into Heavy Metal. Sure they were not regularly raced BITD, but there are a lot of guys out there that love the big suckers. Honestly, how many Hornets or Grasshoppers did you see on the track back then? If we had just a MT class, I might be inclined to build a clod for next year....

I'm with you 100% Brandon!!!
Make a monster truck class (like I suggested to Erich over the weekend) and I'll build a clod to run as well. I was going to build one for this years race but wasn't sure if it would be worth it.
Like the saying from Field of Dreams...." Build it and they will come"!!!! 8)

Heck I'd build a Clod to run an all Clod class! I agree the Clods, King Cabs, Hilux, Pumpkins and Lunchboxes racing together is not fair for the Clods. Being one of the Hilux drivers I can tell you that having the Clods on the track was a total game changer for everyone else. That being said, the "heavy metal class" when I ran it years ago was Blackfoots, Pumpkins, Sledgehammers, King Cabs etc. Anyway, if someone had a problem with my Hilux in the class it was in then I would have happily taken it off the track and just run my Falcon in Classic.
The giveaways were outstanding, the trophy's were super cool, the event was well run and organized, and of all the racing I do throughout the year this is the ONLY RACE where I get excited and start to look forward to the next years event as I'm saying my goodbyes at the current year. I'm a hardcore racer and collector, the best part of this event is the camaraderie and friendships that I have experienced through 2 of these. Erich and I live close enough together, no Erich Milford's NOT that far  , where we can get together and hang out for some bench racing. I'm trying to round up some guys to go do some racing with Brandon and his pals in Tennessee at some point. All are connections and friendships that came from this forum and this specific event. I'll motorize a pinewood derby car for next year to run in 2wd if I have to! Bottom line, this is supposed to be fun right? There's no way in hell you could keep me away from next years race, just so I could get a chance to see and hang out with all the friends I made and people I met at the last 2 Vonats. GREAT JOB ERICH, JOHN, & MARK!!!!!! Thanks for providing such a cool event for those of us who want to enjoy it!

Just got the disk from Raul (many thanks to him for not only letting me borrow a camera but also burning and mailing the pix to me) and then I got sick. I am hoping to get all that done tomorrow. Sorry for the delay guys, between my girlfriend having medical issues and me getting sick I'm feeling like a one-legged man in an ass kicking contest these days. Stay tuned!

Joe I'm around whenever you are. Shoot me a PM when you have some time and we can figure it out from there.

There is video of each main. It was all taken with one Camera so I would guess they need editing.

You can find a couple videos complements of Freddy using the following link.

I think one of the best races this year was the Truck main.

Pics didn't really come out very well and video camera has been on the fritz so I don't know about the video I shot. Jay I missed having you there this year more than you could imagine! :) add to all of that my laptop died and the only access to the Internet I have is my iPhone which has also been giving me trouble since I dropped it. Lol anyone want to send me their extra electronic items?
