This past weekend was the US ROAR 1/10th Electric National held near to me at Leisure Hours Raceway in Joliet, Illinois. I spent most of the last 9 months putting together a program to plan to race this event, but life takes unexpected turns sometimes, and I remain on the sidelines with a camera in-hand.
There is a photo gallery from yesterday's mains found here.
Great track, awesome racing, excellent turn-out in all classes. Wish I could have been racing, but it's just been one of those years for me. At least I got to shoot some of the mains, though.
Camera is a Nikon D70S using my cheep-o Nikkor 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 G lens. It's completely unusable on a windy day because it's so light (plastic body), but if you are shooting stuff like this that you can use a mono-pod or at least brace yourself really well, it can give some great results.

I was cheering for Maifield on liverc, at least he won short course. Great pics. I was suprised to see Truhe win 2wd but it came down to the the last main. Better than the Cav show of the last few years, I think 1/10th electric is on it's way back up. It's so much cheaper to run compared to 8th scale nitro, if they could get the speed control wars in check.

Aaaaahhhh crap! I'm about to get passed by that orange truck!
Love the 2wd buggy shots! I just can't believe that class isn't more popular everywhere! Cheap, fun and exciting! What a shame it's in the state it's in. I mean you hear people say that RTR is so popular because it's cheap and easy and yet most racing(at least around here)is 1/8th scale gas...about as far from cheap and easy as you get. Oh well, great pics. I'll just keep haulin' my B3 and TQ10 up to the track until everyone wises up.
