i said the same thing after first race, after seeing a couple of blackfoots ripping around the track on jconcept double dee's. exactly what part of that reads "heavy metal"?tecnica2001 wrote:I would suggest for next year's VONATs, to run V-thread tires in all the heavy metal trucks, V-thread tires are still being sold everywhere, not only would they look cool, it would be a challenge all on its own to get these truck around the track with these tires...

Re: 2010 VINTAGE OFFROAD NATIONALS OFFICIAL THREAD• SEPT 16-
Not to fuel this fire, but I didn't answer the 'true vintage' class questions as I wasn't planning to attend. I tried getting around the track with Hornet spikes on a Grasshopper the first night I was there in 2008... the track is not vintage tire-friendly at all. Donut competition, maybe... lap times, dismal.
Tracks were a lot looser bitd... at least in the northeast. You honestly would be hard-pressed to have a true vintage class (say, pre-1989 or so) at RCHR. I don't have any answers, but my thought would be open tires with silver can (handout?) motors and nicad batteries in pre-1989 models with pre-1989 hop-ups.
And, just to add to the other topic, the way I read it originally (and still do) the pro-stock class sounds like an excuse to let some people with non-vintage buggies run at a vintage race. I'm all for bringing in new faces, but do it under the same general theme of the races.
I'll say it again, just so everyone understands that I am not being malicious... Erich puts on a fun weekend... RCHR is a great facility... Motel 6 in Southington is a great deal about 20 minutes away.
Best of luck sorting it all out... remember to have fun.

RCHR has an awesome outdoor track, Ideal for vintage tires, we usually run goosebumps on the newer buggies and we have awesome battles.
Can anyone say BBQ??
Oh well, maybe next year...

Jeff I never took what you were saying as malicious or anybody else's comments either for that matter. You're ALL my friends and that doesn't change. We all have opinions and input and its ALL appreciated and heard. I was asking because I want to give people what they want always and my first impressions of a True Vintage class were that it would be next to impossible because of the questions I brought up. Super Stock isn't going to be through an old body on a b4, still has to be an old car somehow.
You guys are why I do this. Honestly I don't make money from this at all and the last two years I've come close to or broken even on what I spend on the race by selling my stuff. I hope everyone keeps in mind that this is a race for us all to get to know each other better and have fun and also for the track to get some new people exposure, and thats really the only reason I do any of it. FOR YOU ALL

Erich- my comments were more for new people looking at the thread as I felt I may have sounded like a Debbie Downer on a couple posts and didn't want to steer anyone away from a great event! I know we're good, bro.Erich Reichert wrote:Jeff I never took what you were saying as malicious or anybody else's comments either for that matter. You're ALL my friends and that doesn't change.

The mods decided that from this point forward the use of B4 in any way shape or form associated with vintage, that member will be banned.tecnica2001 wrote:Hey Jeff,

I'm not going to be able to make it this year, family takes priority and I decided the money would be better spent elsewhere. Plus I'm getting a little burned out on RC cars right now, I'm thinking about taking a break for a while.

Sorry to hear you won't be able to make it Mark, but family does come first. Hope to see you in the next one!!!
What about the other TN drivers, will they be running in the Mod class??
I want to gauge where the competition is going to be...

I had planned on running the Ultima in the 17.5 class. Davis is planning on being in the same class.
Bummer you can't make it Mark, your presence will be missed.
