Ducati Riders?

Post by nsr250_repsol »

Are there any other Ducati riders on the board. Here is mine, she is a '95 916SP 1 of 401 made. Bought it a while ago with 1,800 KM on it and road it to about 3,000 KM but can't bring myself to rack up the miles on her being so rare. Besides I just want to ride the pi$$ out of her when I'm on it. It corners so good I just can't help myself. I need something more on the chill side.

Here are 2 pics just before she was packed for storage while I was shipped off to Korea for a year.

I promised myself that if I ever bought a motorcycle it would be a Ducati, any Ducati. I'd love a mid-90's SS or something like that but I think the Super Motard's are a little more practical for me. Either way, unless I start making tons more money in the next few years it's probably not going to happen.

My first Duc was a '96 900SS SP. Very nice bikes and affordable these days.

Keep an eye out and you could get a great deal on a nice one. Even early 748s are selling below $5,000 time to time. The base price on those guys was $14,000 back in '98.

Sorry, can't afford the Ducati, but I ride a Kawasaki Z1000 which seems to be more popular in Europe than here in the U.S.

I'd settle for a 748 too. What are the upkeep costs like?

I rode Kawi's for a number of years, and in fact still have my 06 ZX10R. I thought about buying a Duc but then I got an MV, too much maintence and the thing would run hot ALL THE TIME! Unfortunately she's gone but I would like to get a new 1098 here soon or the new Aprillia

Very nice MV Agusta! Love their style and the way they handle but prefer the power of a V-twin.

This is what I have in mind for the build of my old man's '73 Triumph Bonneville.

I've never owned a Ducati, but, I do love sporty v-twins.

For years I rode a Suzuki TL-1000S; it made a menacing, deep growl through the big Yoshimura pipes.
((also note the old Dunlop D-364 supersport tire on the back - those were the shizz, back in the day)):

I have currently settled on a Suzuki SV-650; it is much more practical for the street,
and actually, is buckets of fun to ride, full of v-twin character.:

A couple of my friends have them. One a 900 ss and I forget the other. I ride a CBR 1000 rr and love it. It's the fastest thing I've ever ridden.

That looks fantastic with the clasic Rothmans paint! Who ever painted it do one hell of job. The lines match perfectly with the modren lines of the RR. Takes me back to my days in Okinawa when I had a Rothmans NSR250.

It's not a Duck but it's another Italian machine that can't be matched. I ride my Vespa PX150 more than I drive my turd of Subaru. I ported the motor, cut the crank and threw a Leo Vince pipe on it (I work at a Vespa shop). It will hit 70mph and it's taken me from Seattle to Victoria BC and back. It's a four speed two-stroke that's loud and dirty...I love it.

I have a half Suzuki-Ducati, lol. This last winter I hacked up my 500 and put a GSXR 600 front end and a Ducati Monster back half on. That and about enough other stuff to buy a real Ducati. Thing handles like you wouldn't believe!!

Before I got the Z1000, I had a GS500. I love the look of that Sucati :?: Duzuki :?: I bet that's fun to explain to the insurance guy or DMV.
