Tamiya Avante 58072

Post by Daddeo »

Every time I tell myself not to buy anymore vintage RC's something always pops up. I have always wanted a Avante ever since their release in '88 but couldn't afford one back then. Later on my searches usually turned up very little and what was found was very expensive to boot! Finally, after a few years of searching I got my hands on one that will be proudly displayed once a few things are done to it. First off, the paint is incorrect and very ugly. Secondly, the tires have cracked due to "drying out". I already have a set of tires coming but need to know what the exact color blue is used on the box art for the Avante. If anyone here knows I would greatly appreciate the enlightenment. Thanks in advance!

Here is my latest acquisition:

The easiest way to find the paint color is to check the manual out over on Tamiya club. Really though, that body looks great and you might end up screwing it up stripping it.

The Avante is a great looking buggy but I didn't care for it as a runner. I have had a few avante's in the past. I found a shop that had almost every spare part. I bought all of it. I kept one set for myself and sold off the extras for a healthy profit which enabled me to buy every single Tamiya hop up part for the Avante. Once I had all the parts I decided to sell off this one that I had restored. I painted it up with some Allclad chrome paint.

Then one day I saw the Knight hauler video and I sold everything off which enabled me to buy a full option Knight hauler, a Tank trailer and aluminum wheels all around

Very nice Avante!

I already looked over TC but not being a member I can't read the tiny pictures . Thanks for the input though.

BTW- The pictures don't show to well but the paint job is horrible. I have just about got the whole body stripped anyhow. I might contact Kamtec about a repro body....

the avante is probably the best looking r/c car ever produced, besides the bruiser.
