good drifting car?

i want an electric 200mm car that i can put a hpi firebird transam body on and drift it in the parking garage after work.

can i be lazy and just have some of you tell me what i should get? not looking to spend a ton but i want something kinda cool. fitting the hpi transam body properly is a absolute must.

What about a nice used FT TC3 with the drift tires, or home made PVC tires? They are cheap, shaft driven and should fit that body

dumb question... but can i take a stock width electric tc3 and just get wheels with more offset to make the 200mm? i'd like to have a bunch of dish on the wheels anyway.

You cant go past a tamiya TA03.They are 190mm but I run 9mm off sets on the front and 12mm on the back.Looks awsome with the deep wheels and they are cheap.

HPI makes a ton of wheels with lots of offset. Their E10 is a TC3-like car, and you have the option of mounting the motor in the front for drifting, or in the rear for racing.

1993 Ford Mustang Cobra?

Didn't have a Cobra but the first stang I ever had I handed the guy the check and drove off to go show my buddy what I just bought. I was like 19 years old. The first corner I turned I stepped on the skinny pedal and spun the thing in the middle of the intersection. I imagine the smile on my face was priceless! I remember thinking to myself WTF did I get myself into!

I consider myself an expert in this area. With the help of several others, we sorta started the craze long before it became mainstream. A guy you and I both know was originally one who started this (Talon) and you can always consult him as well.

I use a FT TC3 with the 190mm setup. Works great. By sticking with the 190mm you can adapt wider offset wheels to fill the gap w/ 200mm shells. I have a 15t Drift meister motor from HPI to power mine. We have a carpet track at the Hobbyshop where I am working and we find the treaded HPI tires work best. For outdoor use, the PVC tires are cheap and easy and esp. if you have the tools to round the edges. (Check out Sushi drift and the tires they make for examples.)

I have a couple shells that are 200mm and I use the 6mm or 9mm offset for the rear esp. if you like some Fat lip.

Check out www.DRCcentral.com for info. As folks have stated, the Tamiya chassis and HPI platforms are great choices and can be found fairly inexpensively. If pockets are deep, check out the yokomo kits.

so i got a tc4 fromr RC10johnny & ordered some staggered hpi wheels for it that look alot like 1:1 hp evo wheels, which i like.
i tried masking the glass first and using parma window tint but as with every single time i try to paint lexan i messed it up.. luckily the black behind it conceals it.

still gotta put all the stickers for the window rubber and all that. hopin' it breaks up the big black dome a little bit.

the body is pretty cool, really gets the look of the real thing.
