Shock rod ends VS. ball cups
I've seen these used to eliminate the risk of a ball cup popping off but It doesn't appear to be a common upgrade around here. Are they preferable?

In a racing app, they allow more dirt to get into the socket, and wear out faster, and tend to cause breakage intead of being the weak link during high stress

When we ran the RC10GT AND the GT2, these were a necessity. The rear ball ends on the camber link were always popping off.. 1 tip, put a #4 washer between the screw head and the ball to prevent any chance of popping off.

Agree with everything above, and I've also found articulation to be more limited compared to ball cups. I have used them at times in the past on oval cars/trucks, but only for the convenience of being able to unscrew them rather than pop them on and off.

diggig up an oldie...
the ball cup ends cost me a race once (they pop off easily)
yeah- they wear ans bind easier, but I've run rod ends with washers ever since.

Re: Shock rod ends VS. ball cups
But on the flip side, the crash that causes a ball cup to pop off could result in a broken part if you use a heim joint and a washer. Six of one, half-dozen of the other.
