i run them in all of my oval rides, they were the hot ticket b.i.t.d. for oval's at least in my area. when i got back into racing i wasnt running them because i didn't want to destroy such vintage history. i reluctantly started using them mainly so i could use larger gears for the tiny bullring i race on. with the stock gears i could not run a 20 pinion/93 spur gear that works so awesome with stock 27t motors on our 125' oval. i have noticed mine are very free and all my trannies spin forever with them. they are heavily used but they could just be worn to the point of zero drag but i love them. i even have a set that i narrowed down myself just like the ones that speedy sells. http://www.speedysracingparts.com/Associatedcutgears.htm
I hope this question doesn't come across as silly, I know all about roll out and tire size to calculate gear ratios, but I'm looking to make a bulk buy on some 64p Spur and Pinions for a 1/10th scale on-road/carpet pan car running OG nicads and...

This is from the RC10L2. It is for 48P but should give you good ballpark ratios for a given motor.
My son has an Associated T3 with the stock 87t gear. We are running a 3300kv brushless motor and 2S lipo. I was looking for recommendations/starting points on what size pinion to use with this set up. The truck is all stock. Thanks in advance.

I use this chart for starting gearing and adjust as needed on track.
Seems to be both the
--->4670 optima over drive
--->4672 optima under drive
But I also have 46 and 48 t gears.
How do you swap the plastic? Press the metal part to split in two?
Also have 4738 Final Pinion
Probably going to use these in my Optima...
A while ago I won these 48 pitch gear sets made by trinity for the ultima & optima. I'm thinking of using one in my ultima runner but am having difficulties figuring out the gear ratio. Surely a gear ratio table existed but it didn't come with...

A larger spur allows you to use smaller pinions and still reach the spur. Doing so will bring the final ration for both closer agian, so that makes sense.
My guess: the overdrive kit was intended for stock moters.
Is there a way to adopt a b4 style top shaft to a 64 pitch for use with a thorp 64pitch gear set? Were the top shafts and idlers for the thorp 64pitch gt and rc10 stealth the same across kits?

It may be possible to press the gears off and swap them. I'm honestly not 100% sure though.
Are there any threads here on that? Would I just try and torch and hammer off the gear of a associated steel b4 top shaft? Are there any 'blank' b4 shafts?
I am a fan of the Losi LRM transmission and the upgrades available for it..so this is a cool one. This MIP L-260 kit includes a different top gear and diff gear to change the original LRM ratio from 2.18 to 2.6

Nice! I put one in my LXT back when I still raced it. And I think I have a backup kit I got years later.
What year did AE use the black idler gear for the 1st generation grarbox? I know the first kits came out with the white gear but I do not know when they stopped using it.. Anyone? :)

the black idler gears were on the rc10 graphite released in 1989. the tq10 didnt have the updated idlers when it was released. they must be good gears because mine still look new and my car is still being raced today
