Brandon I believe that came out in 96 or 97.

I know yokomo USA is no more, they may have known for sure.

I picked this one up last night. I thought it was a heck of a price, especially with the ally parts: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330385869542
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

The manual for the yr4 11 shows 96. That means eligable i think.that manual has the chassis with flex top plateand different lower chassis is there an older version. I have one that has the solid top plate and different lower chassis

There was a carbon version of the YR-4 before the YR4-II came out: with a 1-piece top deck and different shaped lower chassis when compared to the original black fiberglass one indeed.

I have 2 , fully loaded with alu parts on top. One is my driver touring car and the other is sorted out in spare parts. Got both, second hand and used, in Japan. They were pretty cheap and I ran it in several races (be it in the 'stock class').
Got a standard NIB YR-4 too, but that's parted out for spares and projects, and partially sold-off

I have one of those too. Is the carbon just plain black or like carbon fiber finish?

Mine has very strong brownish weave patterns, but since I got it second hand I have no idea if the chassis and other carbon parts are from the special kit or after-market.
