Painting a beat up gold pan

Hey everyone,

I got a beat up gold pan from the bay. It's got a lot of "extra holes" in it and I want to try and fix it. Is JB weld the best option to fill holes? Even pretty big ones, I'd say the size of a nickel?

Also, I'd like to paint it. I know, not something a lot of you would do but this thing is really beat up. Powdercoating and re-anodizing are also options but having trouble finding anyone locally that would do it cheap.

Have any of you painted aluminum? I'm finding it might not be the easiest to do. Anyone have experience with this stuff?

C'mon people! Help me out! Okay, I think I was wrong about the jb weld. Is that for composites only?

Back to painting aluminum. Anybody hear of or tried gun kote or Dura Bake? Wonder if it would work well. Seems to work for guns pretty well which I assume need to be pretty durable.

first thing is you have to strip off the anodizing. then fix whatever holes that need fixing. jb weld would probably work, but i've never used it. then once the whole chassis is sanded, spray it with a metal etching primer, then paint it. if you have a paint that can be sprayed directly over the metal, skip the primer and just paint it.

personally, if i had a tub with holes the size of a nickel, i'd go find another one.

The holes were mostly made on the side rails, which I was planning on trimming down anyway like most of the folks did on the "what's old is new thread".

Yeah, I decided not to drill into the graphite for the worlds front until I can either find another pan or another graphite chassis for cheap.
