Wide ribbed front tires

Just looking at doing some CR upgrades to my first gen XX, and I was wondering if the front axles are longer to accommodate the wider wheels/tires, or are the axles the same and it's simply a wider rim to accommodate the wider tires?

the rim is just wider they mount the same
