Hi Joe, it's great that you joined this message board. You would make several people happy if you did reproduce your cherished wheels. I grew up in King City and raced in Salinas and Carmel back in the day. I bought a few sets of your wheels out of SRS hobbies several years ago. I've been by the machine shop on Dayton street a few times but the people at salinas valley precision had no Idea what I was talking about when I mentioned your products. In any case here is my collection of tecnacrafts.

You guys are out of control. Great collections. Makes mine look small. I am going to dig through some old paperwork and see if I can find out exactly how many wheel sets we made. They quit selling in the early 90's and I did not make any more. I only took some samples to the Chicago show for folks to look at. I guess the $99.price tag was a bit high. That would be a steal today.
I am looking into remaking some it will be a 1 time limited run and they will be marked as vintage so there is no confusion. I do not want to ruin the value of the original ones.
Thanks for all the pictures and comments.
Joe

Hey all,

Been making calls and trying to find who is worthy of making my wheels. Got to go see a few first of the week and get more details ion what they can do. I did find a anadizer that I can use that is close by. Will keep you informed when I have more info.
And yes I will be taking pre-orders so tell me what you want first and formost.

Agree - depending on cost I'm looking for around 5 or so sets for my vintage cars, and a number of different inserts if they are available separately...

I all depends on cost for all of us. If I can get them made for a reasonable price has a lot to do with them getting made. Most shops want you to run hundreds of parts to get the cost down. I am trying to explain to these guys that numbers will be on a smaller scale but I want the highest quality. Material also plays a big part of the process. We always used only Aircraft grade aluminum. The centers are cut from billet stock. I did not remember it being this much trouble all those years ago. lol Just got to get all the ducks in a straight line.
I am going to give this a lot of effort to make it happen.

I know of one guy that might be able to help you but he's in Colorado. His names Chris and goes by toyranosaur on the R/C message boards. After seeing his work over the years I would say he can deliver the quality people expect from a Tecnacraft wheel.

He hangs out on scale4x4rc.

Great news, Pending final price, i would love a set for my Optima . I think mine are the most common spoke pattern, no ? Would you consider some Tshirts, maybe using some of your old advertising, just a thought .
