Why do you guys do this?

Post by tizeye »

I mean it looks like someone has gone out of their way to make sure that you can't repair the panels on this car..why would you do that?..it looks like fairly minor damage to me, which in the old days would be repaired..do you guys just throw your cars away and not fix them or what?..please explain..

And while I'm at it here is conclusive evidence of global warming..no need to hold some conference in Copenhagen... I've got the shocking pictures to prove it..these cars got so hot that they simply melted..yep you're not even safe in your own car...as you can see even the ice cream truck couldn't handle the heat..

Judging by that timeline this should be the current trend in women's bikinis.

Knowing the women who frequent this site, I doubt either of them are feeling global warming enough for that, Lowboy! LOL

cars today are disposable vehicles. they're designed to crush in the event of an accident to help protect the passengers. cars weren't built like that in the old days. hence the reason old cars could be fixed, todays cars get tossed.

as for your picture, the reason those panels were cut open, was so the insurance company/body shop could look for hidden damage so that a "good" repair estimate. it's obvious that the car was gonna need a new door skin, maybe even a complete door shell, if the intrusion beam inside the door was bent, or if the inner shell was bent. hell, sometimes you have to cut the skin open to even get a door open if it's caved in hard enough. it was gonna need a new 1/4 skin anyway, so they cut a hole in it so that they could look at the inner structure. same with cutting the back of the fender off to get a look at the cowl/firewall, frame rails, suspension, etc.

more or less, if a car is only worth $3000, and there's $2800 worth of damage, insurance companies don't want to find anything damaged after repair have begun. they don't want to end up paying $3800 for repair on a car worth $3000.

The green car is a Saturn (2 pics)-- those have plastic body panels. It looks like it was too close to a heat source (fire?) and most of that seems to have melted.

I do like the ice cream truck though! :D

That would explain the smoke and the smoldering embers in the background.
Sometimes I am so focused I can't see the forest for the burnt trees.

That first pic, looks like it was used as a donor for another car. The panels are cut too perfectly. Unlike the other car that looks like the sides were ripped from the car durring the accident.

This was not my car, but I felt horrible seeing this picture. Shows how much new cars will crumple in an accident.

The old cars crumpled a bit too...and so did the drivers. Check out this video of a 2009 Chevy vs. a 1959 Chevy.
