Re: quick question on rulux wheels?
thanks for all the info so far, this is good stuff to know, it's not easy to figure out from pictures and descriptions.
Going by the description on towers website, the front hex on the b44 is 9.5mm, or 3/8" inch.
so this means losi and others use a smaller hex than the 'standard' 12mm.
I also find it very odd that associated did this, which is why I started this thread. I love the rulux wheels, I'm just looking at retrofits for bigger tires for a variety of cars, and it seems that no one manufacturer makes wheels that fit that are cool looking, just boring ugly old white and yellow disc wheels. How original, ugh. Hate Hate Hate them.
I think I'm going to send HPI an email and tell them they should make a bearing'd front buggy wheel to match their superstar series.

Re: quick question on rulux wheels?
Yeah the BJ4 used Losi front steering knuckles, axles and wheels so they just used Losi wheels, then the B44 is based off the BJ4 so it ended up the same. Maybe it's more durable to do it that way due to the crazy positive offset the wheels run.
If HPI use 12mm hex on their wheels they've got these front and rear 5 spokes from the Cyber 10b

Re: quick question on rulux wheels?
The BJ4, B44 and Losi XX4/XXX4 share the same wheel dimensions/drive arrangement, I recall the reasoning was to make it easy for people to transition from Losi's 4wd or the BJ4 to the Associated B44 while still being able to keep/use Losi wheels. Wheel/tire costs do add up...
The Rulux wheels are hex front/pin rear for the BJ4/B44/XX-XXX4.

Which 2WD buggy do you have? The ultima?jwscab wrote:

With team crp ultima-to-tamiya front axles you could put a larger variety of alternative designs to the disk style.

Re: quick question on rulux wheels?
traxxas, losi, and associated, for the most part. either 3/16" axles, or 5mm. I also have ayk and yokomo 4wd that I want to retrofit as well....
so the 5mm is the same as tamiya, right? I haven't seen much options for different styles, I'm typically using tower, amainhobbies, and horizon, of which, by far, tower has the best site, the other 2 are crap to navigate to just browse.
can you point to somewhere I can browse different styles?

Re: quick question on rulux wheels?
tamiya desert gator wheels are one option. I need to check for the others. Carson (german brand) also has some, Academy griffin (not GV2), traxxas radicator...

Mr Ed, thanks very much for the help, I appreciate it. After I experiment a bit, I'll post what I find.....if you have any other wheel options you think might be interesting, please post them!

Re: quick question on rulux wheels?
Maybe traxxas bandit? I'm not sure how those are beared but as a last resort you could transfer the C-carriers and steering knuckles.
This is what the academy wheels look like. They exist in white also but both are going to be hard to find. Bearings are 10x5 not 11!

And in the top of this threat are the carson wheels (red but more colours exist).
They come quite narrow in the front, so better get the wide ultima to Tamiya axles from team crp. Bearings are 11x5 on this I think.

Re: quick question on rulux wheels?
I was trying to figure out what those yellow spoked wheels are, thanks for that.
where can a guy in the U.S. get those carson wheels?
the bandit uses a hex up front, like losi and kyosho late models, so to use any of those, I'd need to update the axles, or axles and c-hubs. do-able, same as a DS conversion for touring car wheels, basically; I do like the bandit wheels with the anaconda tires.

Re: quick question on rulux wheels?
Carson is a german company, don't think any USbased shops are selling their gear. But some german webshops will ship international, certainly the ebay ones.
I don't thinkyou want these though as I just remembered they are: 2.1" front and 2.0 rear I believe.

Re: quick question on rulux wheels?
Will B4 Rulux rears work on a RC10 Team Car outfitted with 3/16" CVD's or are there more changes/modification needed?

Re: quick question on rulux wheels?
all the guys I've seen run them have the dynotech(worlds?) arms on them, which I think widens the rear track, to offset the wheels. Then you need the B44 rear CVD, I believe. It's all in that 'whats old is new' thread.

Re: quick question on rulux wheels?
Ahh, I see, thanks for the info. I've got stock arms and stock length shiney CVD bones for my Team Car project build. Thought about using Rulux wheels, but I guess I'll have to replace some parts or find new wheels. It'll be a while before it's a roller anyways.

Re: quick question on rulux wheels?
The red wheels I thought to be carson are really tamiya I found out last night: from the mad fighter model.
Team crp also makes a front axle for the original RC10 to mount 5mm tamiya wheels by the way.
