new yz10 for me! what do I actually have Yoke gurus?
I won a yz10 on ebay, like alot of poeple, I've always wanted one, and could ever afford one. This one appears to have some pretty cool stuff on it, but I'd like some gurus to take a look and see exactly what I've got!!
I think its got rpm or yokomo black bulkheads? What kind of upper brace is that? Is this a YZ10/870c, or what exactly. It also looks like maybe rpm spindles/knuckles, etc, did Yoke make black plastic versions of these?
whats up with the orange wheels? are they factory yoke or aftermarket?
thanks for looking!

You have a nice YZ10 there! What I can see ... RPM front and rear bulkheads and RPM steering knuckles and rear bearing carriers, graphite shock towers (front has been trimmed a bit). Top deck was standard on the YZ10. 870c didn't have a top deck and had a graphite spine that was bolted to the chassis. The orange wheels look to be dyed stock ones.

Re: new yz10 for me! what do I actually have Yoke gurus?
Yep, it came with 2 bodies, that are OK. I might just use them for a bit, but I might try the old rcca blue car ad artwork at some point, since that is what initially had me drooling over the car.
thanks for all the info! How did you determine that the shock tower was trimmed?
would it be blasphemy to dye the white wheels? Since the backs are orange, and the fronts are white, I am thinking of maybe going black on both sets to make them the same. Would these be 2.0 wheels on this car, do you think?
would it be too difficult to find a set of white wheels for it? by any chance are there specific parts numbers to look for?
I'm stoked, it's like waiting for the delivery man to drop off an xmas gift!!

Re: new yz10 for me! what do I actually have Yoke gurus?
That would be a cool paint scheme!
The front tower looks to only have 1 set of shock holes and is too "rounded". The front should have a shape similar to the rear.
Those are 2.0 wheels. If they're not perfect, then dye away. If you can find more wheels, the next problem will be finding tires. The only 2.0 tires that I know of that are still available are rears by Tamiya and Losi. Fronts are no longer. You could buy rears and narrow them with a little cut and paste action.
Are you looking to make a racer or just a fun car?

I am pretty sure the original shock towers had 2 holes and had a sharp-ish corner (like fox ears)....yours are rounded and only has a single hole. You also have Kyosho platinum shocks. What you have is a very modified Yoke as alot of the weak points have been upgraded.

Re: new yz10 for me! what do I actually have Yoke gurus?
cool, I was going to ask if those looked like factory shocks.
This is going to be a fun car, mostly, since there are not alot of tracks around me to race. I understand that there are yoke 2.2" wheels that were OEM. How hard will they be to find? Or did they use those blue rubberbands to make the wheel fit the 2.2" rubber?
I hate the fact that some manufacturers don't make a 2.0" tire. How hard would it be to make one with a trim line so you can make the tire 2" or 2.2" or even 2.1" grrr....

If you are not going to race with this car then not much point trying to go the 2.2 route (rims are rare and expensive anyway).

cool, thanks for the tip on the 2.2" wheels. Its getting harder and harder to find 2.0 tires, especially the narrow ones which is why i was asking.
Karnivool, I sent you a PM regarding another possible yoke.
thanks for all the info so far guys!! Once I get it cleaned up I'll snap some better pics.

One of the guys (I can't remember who) at the vonats used older wheels with newer 2.2" tires. He took a short section out across the body of the tire and carefully glued it back together. It worked well, and you could barely tell it had been cut. I was impressed!

For 2" tires you may consider the Schumacher spikes which are still available and period correct.

thanks for the schumacher tip!
yeah, i've seen mention of the glued tires; it should work well, as CA really bonds well to rubber, judging by all the ripped old junk tires I've had to pull off rims.

That top deck is not a standard item the first yoke to have one standard was the works 91 and yours is earlier than that

Yep,
The top deck should be a Jammin, but modified to fit the RPM Bulkheads.

yep, it should be here today, pretty excited!
where can i find the schumacher tires? Are these still available and in production, or just available from various sources as stock is depleted?
is there a well known schumacher retailer on the web?
thanks for the info on the upper brace.
