are you all nervous that a re-re will decimate resale values?![]()
was heaps of SRB owners that swore black-n-blue that T would never re-re those yet 2009
here we are... yes all the molds are "fresh" newies - but Tamiya do all that inhouse anyway.
All told... its probably less risk to tool up for a re-re than a all-new unproven design;
there's a huge fan base and there's good chance you'll sell enough to breakeven.
Although once the fans have bought their share... sales would probably plateau
& convincing modernday shopkeepers to stock them could be a challenge.
yes Kyosho don't believe in reliving their history, they prefer to design new stuff
then again, some of their original engineers are now at HPI?![]()
as for a authentic re-re of a 1:1 VW Beetle, Model-T Ford, MGB or other iconic model...
it AIN'T NEVER GUNNA HAPPEN purely due to modern safety & emissions legislations.
Remanufacture of any old design will make them current-year vehicles and
that requires them to pass current Rules to be able to be registered for public road use.
But if you have enough $$, plenty of small firms out there today doing authentic replicars of
famous racing icons for track use etc. Some authentic enough to enjoy parts interchangeability.
would 18 gold tubs count??

Funny how associated has no vintage cars in the lobby or any where for that matter. Only a few guys that work there have their own collections.. Losi has all their lineup in the meeting room which you can see from the lobby. I guess they are not too inrested in the past at all...I mean no worlds trophies nothing....Masami is the only guy that kept all his cars according to cliff Lett...Nice

Not so! AE has a few things and are working on getting a good collection. They just don't have them on display yet. They very much care about the AE history!
As for TT and AE. TT takes care of the financing and most of the manufacturing but all the design and development and most testing are done in the good ol USA by good old Americans (mostly
).
It's cheaper to manufacture off shore! It's just business. In any case, (in my mind) TT is not poor quality.

Re: RC10 rerelease is this rumour true?
I have some friends that work there. I also visit AE. They really dont have the room for display in the lobby. Like I said, a few guys have their own private collections. There is no heap of parts laying around to start a build for sure...Not many companies want to remake a model.... wish yokomo would.... I really wonder if AE or Yoke would sale all the kits if they put them out in limited numbers? Lets say like 1000 kits? That would be nice. Sure it would be very expensive for AE...

ya, it'll never happen. this topic has come up on the forum a few times. i remember reading in one of the posts that associated said something along the lines of...... we want to look forward, not back. that pretty much says it all right there.Prince Steve wrote:But we all know it would never happen unfortunately..

Re: RC10 rerelease is this rumour true?
You would never know if a re-release happened until the kits were on the shelves. AE development guys are very very secretive. A friend of mine asked them if a truck version of the SC8 was going to be released. Pretty much got the same response as.... see what Cliff says at the 2:00 min mark.

Re: RC10 rerelease is this rumour true?
i can understand if they wanted to keep a new competition based race car "under wraps". but, i don't see why they'd have to be the same way with a re-issue of a 25 year old kit. everyone already knows what it should look like. they're not hiding anything.
i'd think they would want to get the possibility out in the air to see what kind of interest there is. just my $.02.
