I have one of the first Losi LXT trucks. Has anyone tryed brushless motors on the older models?

I raced one every weekend last summer in my LXT, a Associated LRP Eraser Sport 10.5 Turn Brushless Motor with a XX retrofit trans worked great!! wish I would not have sold it??

Brushless should work just fine. Just need to play with the gearing to get the right feel. Just like any of the modern buggies and trucks. I'm running brushless in all my Vintage goodies, RC10 Graphite, RC10T, JRX2, JRXT, with no issues whatsoever. Just keep in mind that the older drivetrains may not respond or hold up well to a 6.5 or lower brushless.

Its funny how much the tech has changed over the years. Whats even funnier is the level of power we can milk from low turn brushless motors and high 'C' rated Lipo's. Gone are the days when you need to set your car up to make race time without dumping and when you consider how fast even the best mods were back then realy makes you appreciate just how far we've come.

I'm wondering how the diff gear holds up, ans they were known to melt themselves with old school motors and batteries.

Yup, running the LRM. No problems whatsoever with the diff gear, I just check it every run to be safe to be sure its not slipping.

You're not kidding! I was trying to explain to my son, who can now outdrive me by the way, how psyched I was to get my 1700SCE Nicad and my Reedy Gold Star modified powered JRX2 to finish a 4 minute race without dumping!
