JRX2 lower rear shock ends

Post by RedScampi »

So I bought a couple of well used JRX2's and both of them have some issues with the lower rear shock ends. One is just broken and the other one has an oddball, possibly home made end. What do I look for to replace these? Are there any aftermarket pars available? These are apparently the week link (no pun intended :P ) on these 5-link suspensions.

I do not know of any aftermarket lower rear shock ends, I wish there were some made out of aluminum or delrin. The stock ones always seem to crack along the mold lines or just snap off.

for anyone that plans on racing with a 5 link, i would suggest having someone (dynotech, etc.) make them out of delrin or aluminum. ya, they might cost you a decent amount to get them done, but it's not like the originals are that easy to find....... or all that cheap when you do.

Well I guess for a runner the RPM arms are the way to go!

at the vonats I went the entire time without breaking a 5-link spring cup, only to have one let loose in the last minute or so of the main. It didn't break, but the threads stripped and pulled out off the shaft.

The only other part I broke(besides a diff gear) was actually an RPM shock rod end on the rear of my RPM converted truck, same thing happened, rod pulled out of the threads.

I'd be interested to see how much delrin ends would cost. The stockers usually go for $10ish for a pair when sold individdually. I've found most of mine burried in bigger lots and gotten them cheap.

I had 2 of these left because I replaced the 5 link early on with the H-arms. Gave them to dr. robotnik just after joining the forum. That and the kreeping front arms are indeed the weak parts...and the front bulkhead perhaps. I screwed a shocktower on mine last week, just to find the plastic had split around the screw the next morning :x

My shelf queen has one damaged end, cosmetically OK but not OK to run.

Do think there would be enough interest for making a batch of custom parts? There are some guys on rctech that i've bought from that make custom B4 & RB5 parts? How much do you think a custom part would be?

I ran a Pro w/5 link at vonats with absolutely no breakage what so ever. With exception of the Duratrash rims of course.

I had a few hits that should have ended up with breakage, but the thing held together!

Is there anyone in particular to contact at Dynotech to have this part fabricated? I recently picked up a couple of 5 link cars and plan on racing them...I'm just worried about breaking these shock ends.
