Anyone tried this? Yellowed parts white

Figured out a twist to the peroxide trick to whiten parts.

I put the parts, submerged in peroxide into a caserole dish covered with plastic wrap. Then set it on top of aluminum foil out in the sun. Using the foil, you don't have to flip the parts and the solution heats up.

I'm not a scientist but the parts where far whiter when the peroxide was warmer.

I mentioned that I put aluminum foil under my big sun tea jar full of peroxide earlier and I definitely think that the heat cycles out in the sun and the cooler nights have an effect on the whitening process. I'm going to get all my stuff processed before winter for sure.

I used an old cake pain lined with foil it only took a few hours not days like some people have said? but I guess that depends on the parts

my parts were pretty good to start...but i tried it anyway

i jus put em ina glass bowl out in the so cal sun for a few hours and it worked out great

yeah, it's pretty awesome. I have been whitening parts in peroxide since I saw this thread. Been picking and choosing the best parts to do so when I straight out do a restore (istead of bastardizing) an RC10, I'll have all I need....

Before soaking in peroxide, I have been using a couple of different mixtures to scrub parts of their greasy filthiness. The last one I used was CLR, hot water, dawn and spray-nine. For the shock towers, to get the rust off the holes, straight CLR with a tooth brush.

I left some parts in that mixture the other night, and probably could have skipped the peroxide treatment.

I'm still a big fan of the simple green. And it doesnt have a bad smell (to me) I have to try this peroxide thing myself. I still need a few little things to make old goldie perfect (nose plate, ball cups, and 1 broken front arm) One thing you dont want to clean any anodized parts with is Castrol Super Clean, Purple Power, or similar purple cleaners, THEY STRIP ANODIZING! it cleans well, but does harm the finish..

Careful with Simple Green, too. I have a few parts that have a green tint to them from sitting too long in the stuff. It doesn't work nearly as well as peroxide does for whitening, either. Clean—yes, whiten—not so much.

Hopefully getting a stash of peroxide today.... i'm sure its been mentioned somewhere in this thread... but has anyone tried it on white Yokomo parts?.... I'm going to try a pair of white Schumacher wheels too

i got another batch of used white parts, and decided to give this stuff a shot. i had hope that it would change my yellowed parts to a nice bright white. but, it just hasn't worked out........ nor did i expect it too.

That's a diluted solution that has little or no effect on anything as advertised. The problem was that sunlight exposed all of the problems from the previous decade of neglect, waste and destruction, which is really just too hard to wash off with typical conservative methods. You know, many people conveniently forget how bad the UV was to these old parts, and that these incompetent solutions were started long before we found out about peroxide.

You can only do so much change for the better sitting in the sunlight.
