Protech Bodies

Are there any sources for the Protech body anymore? It seems certain to me that AE is no longer going to produce any of the rere vintage parts anymore including the Protech bodies. I saw that Andy's is offering painted ones on ebay, but not sure if he's offering them clear for sale. It doesn't look like TBG or Sabula Tech sells them. I'm a little surprised that Jconcepts released the B3 body and not the Protech. Seems like the market would be bigger for the Protech. So as parts supplies are drying up very rapidly for our beloved gold pans, and we seem to be headed once again to a time where every little part is a hunting expedition, can anyone suggest a source for these bodies?

I’d wait it out and see if Jcon acquires the mold. Since AE is on a selling spree I could see them owning all the molds eventually.

Otherwise I would check on Penguin. I am pretty sure I saw they had the protech and protech II both. Their bodies are known to be the correct proportions as well, unlike TBG

Edit- yes they are on eBay. Item number 274135367864
Username is Haskins2004

The bodies jconcepts has been reissuing, AE had the molds in hand. Not the case with the Protech, Viper or Turbo Mirage. Those are probably still in China and may never find their way back to the USA.

Ahh ok thanks for clarifying. I figured this was all happening in China anyway.

I went hunting Protech and other RC10 bodies last July after AE formally discontinued them. Penguin appears to be the only source for Protech at the moment.

I'm not familiar with penguin. I'll have to check them out. I've been very happy with the quality and prices of the bodies I bought from Sabula Tech. I'm hoping they might start making the Protech in the future.

I thought the same so I asked and got a definite "NO"!
Anyway, it appears that even Andy's is using Penquin Protech bodies:

EDIT: Sorry, wrong link - fixed now.

I checked out Penguin on Facebook and didn't see the Protech among the bodies they produce, only the Protech 2. Also they are out of stock on almost everything. They seem to be a well respected source around here. Am I missing something? :?

Well, here's Steve Haskin's ebay link -- but no Protech. I swear I was just looking at that listing earlier this week

So the one I gave the item number for above isn’t a Protech?

I have only one Penguin body, a Turbo Ultima.
Regarding quality, if oem is a 10, then the one I have from Penguin is about an 8. At least it's the right size. Other's rave about Penquin quality, we'll see. I've gone ahead and order two Protech 2 bodies and a B2 body from him. Beggars can't be choosers. Shipping costs are ridiculous.

That's it. I wonder why it doesn't show on his items for sale list.

It was under $13 shipping for three bodies, wings and an under tray shipped from overseas- to me that was a bargain. I have paid that much for domestic shipping on small items.

The cheapest I can ship overseas is $13 as well.
