During my "The Dukes of Hazzard" research bitd, they butchered '68-'70 Chargers. Some episodes can clearly see round running/tail lights ('68). And I guess they chopped some front ends or swapped fenders to work around the '70 loop grille/bumper. Etc, etc, etc.......and don't pretend like that show wasn't AWESOME!

But if you ever owned a second-gen Charger, you had to deal with those people always telling you, "Hey, you gotta paint that orange and put the Confederate flag on the roof!" It got pretty annoying.

Another classic Charger apart from the General Lee is the "bad guy car" in the movie Bullitt. They used 2 for the movie, and 1 was a legit 440 4sp R/T.

I don't actually remember what the original color was, but I remember watching a vid of the guy who found and restored the original General, or one of the original show cars anyway. He's a huge fan of "hero" cars, he had a General, he has the Transcon Medivac van from the Cannonball movie, and I think he's has or had a few others. If you guys are familiar with the website/app Vinwiki, they do car stories and this guy is a regular story teller there.

Well according to Cooter in the General Lee backstory episode, 'Happy Birthday General", it is a "nice red-orange" as it was the only color of paint he had at the shop at the time..

Having loved the series, I tried to watch the remake movie. I literally couldn't make it through the first 5 minutes before turning it off and burning the movie. It was just that awful!

I got a few bigger toys but they're a bit neglected at the moment, well aside from my daily.

1992 Nissan 240SX when i bought it it was in pieces. Put it back together, dailyed it for awhile and started drifting it. It's been through hell a few times and has been retired from daily service. It's been through 3 engines 2 transmissions and several body panels and a turbo. Has way too many mods to not turn into a rant. Currently undergoing another engine transplant after an unfortunate issue with the fuel pump cutting out while approaching redline during an event.

1990 Infiniti Q45. The car that was once my daily, sold to a friend and a few years later came back to me for free. It's essentially a large v8 Skyline. Shame Infiniti did such a crap job at promoting these back in the day. It's been repurposed as a backup car, commuting or drifting. This will be undergoing a manual transmission swap shortly.

My daily, 2020, Stinger GT Indigo. Sure it's a KIA, but the Koreans really stepped up their game on this one, shame '23 is the last year for them.

I've had that one the longest, My first car was a non sport Gran Torino which unfortunately got t-boned. many of the parts are getting repurposed to this Torino though. She looks rough but the body is surprisingly solid.

But all have 1 thing in common, RWD, well except the Stinger which is AWD but it spends most of it's time set to the most rear biased setting. Also, the Stinger, Q45 and Torino are all around the same wheelbase as each other.

Strictly KA24DE. It has a very nice powerband with the GT28 turbo I run on it. A lot more torque than a SR20.

I bought an old '78 280z many years ago, restored her over 4 years, great car, lots of fun! But, got older and tired of wrenching, sold her and bought this '03 350z. Made in Japan, sold in CA., later shipped to and registered in Germany, now in France. Upgraded to '06 OEM Nissan rims and headlights a couple years back to keep it fresh.

As a twist to this thread - something I just picked up. A project to keep me from buying more RC cars...

Will be a father/son 'build'. Lots of plans, need to set a realistic budget. Not going crazy with motor, it will be his first car, keeping it stock but reliable.

Wonder if my RC paint would translate well in the real world...(kidding!)

Here are some progress pics of Grendel's resurrection. She's been in body & paint since just after Christmas 2023. I never liked the original EF8 olive green color, but I wanted to remain true to her green roots--while doing something nobody has done before. Spent hours googling green-painted cars to zero in on the exact body and bumblebee stripe colors I was envisioning for decades and finally tracked down some Sikkens paint codes for my body man for Jet Green Metallic (a Porsche Cayenne color) and Verde Selvans (a Lamborghini lime green pearl). Made sure to have the stripe taped off with the proper angle and subtle V-shape across the trunk lid, not just the lazy straight-across stripe you see all too often.

The clearcoat really makes the Jet Green Metallic look deep! This will really pop in the sunlight, but look gloss black at night!
