I honestly don't think CC would have any problems with others duplicating the design for reproductions. Kim wasn't that much of a Hard A$$.

Ruffy how did you make the nose kick?

Did you make a wide piece (like side by side) and then cut the chassis ?

The CF panel layup is one long piece with the 30 deg. kickup cooked in this shape during the oven phase. The panel is approx 4 feet long, with the nose kickup going the entire length. There is a lot of waste as the chassis shape cannot be nested for efficiency on the panel, due to the noseplate area, so they are cut side to side to get as many as you can down its length. This is one of the reasons for the high prices, since the chassis is thick enough that the rest of the panel is too thick to use for shock towers or other items.

I found some time to complete the chassis. This indeed was a very fun build. I went with the mip steering as the rpm kit seemed kind of cheesy. I really want to put electrics in it and run it but can't bring myself to see it get a single scratch on it. Well next is a body and i think a viper body may fit if i cut down the front a bit. It always takes me forever to mount bodys on these shelfers, but this one is my favorite so far and is crying out for a bodyset. I hope everyone enjoys the pics and thanks again for the kind words.

That battery brace design was from the time when they allowed 7 sub C cells in modified, which allowed you to put the 7th cell on top of the 6-cell stick pack.

Wow what a nice car. with those See's wheels its almost sexy makes me want to build a RC10. It would be a shame to cover that chassis up with a body I would leave moxt of it clear. to see that chassis

Since the chassis uses a top plate, couldnt a thinner graphite, say 2.5mm, be used? The top plate would stiffen the entire car as if it had a thicker main chassis.

I know we use a lot of 2.5mm and 3mm graphite for our dirt oval cars, and we're making all our shock towers out of the same material to create as little waste as possible. I would think this shouldn't be a even for the offroad stuff.


Reggie knows where to get some graphite w/ the kickup in it, and although it was a little pricey, it wasnt overly ridiculous in price. Im sure if there were enough members willing to pitch in, the chassis would be fairly inexpensive.

I have talked with the owner of RPM recently (within the last month). All the old molds for the World's parts were thrown out as they figured they would never be needed again. I think having some of these parts machined in delrin would probably be a far cheaper method of having them recreated.
