Re: Alex B's Yokomo WCS 93 build thread (February 2014 updat

It's easier to make another kid than another 93WCS.

My blasphemous MIP 4-10 project

Remember that 4-10 auction on Ebay two weeks ago? Yeah, I'm that guy. I stayed late at work to snipe the auction (all is fair in love and war), which ended in both laughter and tears as I realized what I had done to my wallet. My apologies to any of you if you were bidding on it and lost - I get ver...

Re: Manta Ray - 2019 Vonats Build

You can't upgrade to a carbon chassis for the Classic class (must keep the plastic tub), but that's no big deal. All I really did to mine was add the aluminum motor mount and a heatsink. I have some other bits on there to try to reduce weight (titanium screws, aluminum kingpins, hollow carbon shafts...

Re: Nylon rear hubs 870c

If you're having trouble finding the original magnesium hubs, you can use Kyosho Lazer ZX rear hubs as a substitute. The hub offset is very similar to the 870 magnesium hubs, plus they have more holes for adjustability. Might not be a "perfect" fit, but it should be close. If you can't fin...

Re: Javelin or Schumacher Cat XLS re re?

The CAT XLS is a better racer, but will certainly require more attention to detail and more finesse when driving it. Schumacher's jankiness makes AE look quality by comparison ;) The Javelin can also be very fast, especially on low grip tracks, but you may find it is not quite as adjustable. - For ...

Re: Kyosho Inferno 10E build

I used RB5/ZX5 standard bore shocks on mine. You can alternately use RB7/ZX7 big bore shocks, with the appropriate spacers to make them fit.

Re: ** 2021 Vintage Off-Road Nationals - R/C Excitement Inc., Fitchburg, MA - Sept. 24-26

The jump sequence on the back was a little easier on Friday when the grip was lower and you can run the chassis higher. As the grip level came up, for me at least, I had to drop the car down and run stiffer springs, especially up front and especially for my 2wd buggy. This gave me a narrow margin fo...

Re: ** 2023 Vintage Off-Road Nationals - R/C Excitement Inc., Fitchburg, MA - Sept. 8-10 **

There are some updates to the Classic rules as well. Erich should post an update on that here, if he can be bothered to ;) Also, FYI, RCE's surfaces has been "sealed" from what I understand. Apparently, clay slicks are the tire of choice now. Might want to still bring any tires you ran las...

Re: Yokomo Super Dog Fighter (2023) by RC Magazine

I hope they follow through on this. YZ10 prices have gotten insane and it'll be great to have a supply of harder-to-find parts which don't cost my soul. Some things on my wish list for an 870 re-re: 1.) Slotted rear bulkhead mounting holes on the chassis. The Works models had this and it is crucial ...

Re: ** 2023 Vintage Off-Road Nationals - R/C Excitement Inc., Fitchburg, MA - Sept. 8-10 **

It was a great time and definitely great to see everyone there. Basically wasted all of Friday open practice trying to go fast without traction compound, then gave in at the last minute and bought some from the shop. The new surface definitely took some adjusting to. The layout was mostly okay, but ...
