For those that were "there" back in the day, how popular was the original Ultima? From what I remember as a kid, there was much interest in Kyosho claiming and then succeeding in making the Ultima the "next world champion". After that though, attention seemed to return to the RC...

I dig the fender flares, and they should help with aerodynamics too, I'd imagine.

How come no mention of Parma's FasKolor paints, or Createx, AutoAir? All are water-based and cleanup is so much easier. Plus, your lungs and health will appreciate it. Nice fix to fabricate that missing part. I also find myself doing that a lot, cutting up leftover parts and stuff to make other parts. I'd rather find a way to make something I need rather than spend money to buy it...because usually these vintage parts are ludicrously expensive or impossible to fin...

The dust shroud is a good idea but it's going to stop any airflow from passing over the parts that heat up; the motor and ESC. You might be at risk of frying those components, and possibly warping/melting the nearby plastic parts if they heat up too much. The addition of a heatsink is a good idea, b...

Any tricks to lifting the old decals off without scratching the can? Any time I need to remove stickers, I just hit them up with a hair dryer, lift up an edge and peel off. Usually that's enough heat to soften up the adhesive, and a spray and soak for a few seconds with WD-40 takes care of any stic...
